    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Thanks @RMDavis. There was an empty garage during the lunch break so couldn't resist trying to get one of those moody garage shots. Always wanted one.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Haven't posted on here for a while so thought i'd update. The car got its first ever beating around a track this week at Brands Hatch. There where some pretty quick cars their but that didn't seem to matter, on multiple occasions I had 2 maybe even 3 laps where I didn't have to move over to let...

Picked up a nice sensible family car, with room for the dog

I love your idea of a sensible family car. Epic barge!

Another batch of TrackDay photos (supercar content).

Amazing photos mate! Is it easy enough to turn up and take photos/walk around the pits etc? I fancy popping up there some time!

    Very nice looking Cup!

Clio 172 Cup now with 2118's fitted

Epic car mate. Only spoken with you briefly when you directed me to Cup corner at FCS last year but have had a good look at the car up close, very clean!

Cleaning out old Renault part shop and found these.... (classic wheels)

Top one looks strikingly similar to the wheels found on a Renault 5 Turbo 2. No idea on name, but very cool!

    Brembo refurb

I've had no first hand experience with this company but they've been recommended to me by a few people: http://www.biggred.co.uk/. They look like a one stop shop sort of thing though so they'll re-paint, re-build and send them back I think... so maybe not what you're after. Edit: after properly...

    Ali's 2003 Clio cup 172.

Doesn't look like it's done 125k mate. Very nice!

Thanks mate. Studs can be found here and the wheel nuts here.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Thanks mate. Seen a fair few decent spec Cups up for sale recently, just saying :tongueout:. Still very useful info as they actually only have a chamfer on one side. I'll flip them around when fitting. Thanks pal

    Return of the Renault:)

So satisfying to see you bringing this car back to life and giving it the TLC it needs!

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Some goodies arrived today in the post. 16 x M12 50mm studs from Driftworks and some Neo Chrome wheel nuts. Spacers from Pure Motorsport also arrived. Trial fitted to make sure everything fits ok and now just waiting on the 271 Loctite in the post  Studs seem to fit fine... felt a little...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

KTEC seem to do a set of studs in either 68mm or 100mm. I want to run 10mm spacers now as it might help if I ever get a second set of 15" wheels for track. Should I go for 100 or 68mm?

    Darius' RenaultSport Clio 182

Looks like it was going well around Bedford from the photos. It looks really good on the blue wheels too.

    **show us Your Engine Bay**

That's one of my favourite things about the ED kit. At first I wanted blue silicone bends and chrome pipes but now I'm glad that they only offer all black.

Would love to take the engine out and get it cleaned up properly. This will do for now. Lightning isn't ideal in this pic

Completely forgot about that! Stud conversion it is then

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

You've got a good point there, that might work out better. There's a waiting list for more of Chris's brackets so i'm sure it wouldn't take long for these to sell.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Exactly the same here mate, not sure if I want to run extended wheel bolts with 5mm spacers so now looking at more money for the stud conversion kit which sucks.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Cheers @NorthloopCup that makes perfect sense as that's exactly what is happening with the 280s. Looking at it now I can see how 295's and 300's would clear the wheels without a problem.

I did exactly the same mate but at this point it's looking likely that i'll have to get some

More photos. No idea if they help but best I could get at the moment. Excuse my patchy painting lol.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Yeah @Mash that's exactly what I managed to do the first time around. Had a lot of trouble fitting the pads until I realised what I had done lol. Just checked the wheels again and they're catching but only just so a few mm would do it. I'd be interested in the spacers mate, just let me know...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Exactly this mate. The spokes are making contact with the face of the caliper. Perhaps I have gone wrong on the install but god knows where. The only other possibility excusing my mechanical incompetence would be that not too long ago I had that exact hub changed by a garage as two wheel bolts...
  28. cjgower

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

The wheel is sitting on the face of the caliper mate so would literally hit it/get stuck by the looks of things. No idea which brackets i'm using as I got the lot from @Mash but believe they are for 280mm discs.
  29. cjgower

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

It could be that I've mounted them wrong, I'm handy with a spanner but hardly the world's best at this sort of thing. Initially I did get the brackets around the wrong way and only realised after the pads wouldn't fit lol. Changed around and everything fits fine.

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Literally the only place that it's making contact with the caliper is on the face where the Brembo logo is. It looks as if the caliper will clear the inside of the wheel easily. If I hover the wheel over the hub with about a 5mm gap (eyeballing it) it looks as if it will just about clear it.
