Hello chaps. Took an annoyingly few pictures this weekend, but i'll do my best to explain a rather busy couple of days.
I got to Gareths's (where the cage was being done) at about 11am Saturday and had a bit of a catch up. Gareth had a few people in, but I got to have a chat to a couple of...
lol, thats worth a few £ mate if its in good condition and complete! Freds always got loads of stuff he wants rid off but Birmingham's never on my route north and south.
I'm not really, but i'm learning on the job. It's not as hard as some like you to believe! That engine above turned out to be a pup though so i've put my name down for another head from a phase 1 instead.
Small update. The guy doing the cage decided it needed an extra bar to strengthen the front end.
Cage is now finished so i'm collecting the car from him Saturday morning and have a day or so to get a few jobs done, first port of call is changing the dephaser seal.
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Cracking car and cracking workmanship. It looks fantastic. I wish I had the money to do mine like that as well.
I bought a wire on ebay from Latvia or somewhere similar. Was about a tenner delivered. It's not rocket science fitting it, you just loose a load of skin off your hands!

I did it to mine the other week. It took a while for the skin to grow back, but it does work really well.
I sold an OE iPod thing on ebay a few weeks back because i couldn't be arsed wiring it all in. The aux thing is much easier.
It was an ebay auction that was ended early... Not really much I can do mate tbh. With a new set of valves in it the head will be fine. I'm going to strip the block and give all the damaged bits to the rag and bone man!
Cheers Dan. I've pm'd you though i've been offered a complete head from a guy in London that might be easier.
Fred, everything was out mate. The horseshoe wouldn't touch it (exhaust cam was 20 degrees out). I'll get some pics of the internals in a mo, but whatever happened to it wasn't good...
Will do, that sounds a solid plan to be honest. I've never replaced valves before so don't know whether to tackle it myself or get someone else to do it. There is no rush as this is a spare engine, so i might have a read up on it.
I bought it off of a guy on ebay. The block was badly damaged...
No mate just rattle cans! It's come out OK actually, i'll go and get a picture in a mo. Quite chuffed with myself.
Hi Joe. Better late than never old chap.
