Almost 93LbFt a litre on standard(ish) compression and pump fuel(?), must be a very good head and inlet setup, pic's?
Do you know what the figures at the wheels were out of interest? Makes it a bit easier to compare although I appreciate comparing across dyno's is a fruitless task at...
You won't need a 3/8 BSP to 1/8 BSP for the pressure sender. It will fit a 1/8 NPT perfectly - even states this in the SPA manual.
Afraid I haven't any pics of the sandwhich plate fitted to the block, but have a load of others. Also I remote mounted mine on -4 hose to help avoid knackering the...
Most people use a fully synth Fuchs or Redline 75w-90, over on 197.net.
Personally I'm going to be sticking in Millers CRX 75w-90 CT in my rebuild (99% sure I'm going Quaife too and not Gripper)...
B6's and Eibachs will be a nicer steer on the road and perfect if you're not doing track days.
Lower steering coloumn bush perhaps (had one go on an XSI). Get over on to 106rallyeregister though, it certinaly used to be a very knowledgeable forum.
B4's are just OE spec replacement dampers, nothing fancy. The B6's are the proper mono tube dampers with inverted pistons. They are for standard to mildly lowered springs (B8's are the same but have a shortened stroke for typically 20-40mm springs ). I used B6's with -20mm Eibach springs on my...
Meh, I'll just drive slower  If I'm using it for any distance I'm usually on mileage anyway as I work from home. If there was no road use at all I'd probably use the 5.0 from Gripper - although at £900 I probably wouldn't!!
Back in ye' old days when I had 5 speed boxes, iirc was my 106...
No I'll be taking both the crownwheel and pinion as a matched pair from one TL4 and using them in another - the early 197 box actually as that has a longer 1-3 to avoid them becoming usless and a shorter 5&6. Vs. my 200 spec box that is.
It'll be a sweet setup as ratios 1-2 work out the same as...
Cheers, so probably as frequently as the syncros need doing then!! (my 4th is fadged on 34k!). hmmm just not sure which to go for. Cars a daily so does about 10k a year.
That's cool about the crownwheel then, should be a simple enough rebuild. I've got a 4.7FD coming out another TL4 so can pre...
Hi Mark,
Given your gearbox skills, have you ever had a mk3 TL4 apart? Wondering how the crownwheel is fitted to the standard diff and how it's removed, as I'll be fitting it to either a Quaife or Gripper.
When I had a Quaife on my 106 it was an interference fit with a ball bearing as a kind of...
No worries, and yeah makes sense to leave from the point of view everythings already worn togther.
I'd forgoten I had them frankly and the thread just sparked a lightblub!!
Would a cheap fix and upgrade be sticking some mk3 RS cams in? It's not the full on expense of stripping and fixing along with say catcams etc.
I've actually got a set of mk3 200 cams, came out a few months ago on 30k. I wasn't planning on selling but it's slowly dawning on me the car will never...
Cotton and foam oils are apparently different, ITG are very adamant not to use cotton oil on their filters:

"Under no circumstances use cotton gauze filter oil"
Thanks guys, I'll not hassel Nick at PMS mind, as I'm just window shopping/aquiring info for a potential cam swap :) and that def won't be for a while yet as my 4th gear has just lunched itself so it's gearbox time now :(!
It sparked my interest though as I thought it might have been an 830 on...
Bit of a thread bump this! But interested to know is that 242bhp from a 197 F4R830? What duration and lift cams were used to get 242 whilst retaining the hydraulic tappets, was it VVT delete and was it still on a single throttle body?
If it's an F4R730 it will certianly be on multi throttles...
I think it'll be close now as the R3 Maxi 230 (~227bhp) runs a bigger injector and I'm going to be pretty much on that power when I fix my exhaust. Certainly I'll be expecting to do 220bhp. Then on ITB's who knows! - bit of an unknown but it's def my intention to run them.
However I am def going...
Hi people, need some help on the topic of injectors for a tuned NA engine. I have done some searching and it seems like either IWP043 or Meg injectors are the way to go?
However, I've found many different references stating different sizes for the Meg injectors, such as...390cc, 430cc, 440cc...
Not far off. Assuming 18,000rpm on the 39.8mm stroke V8's = 23.88m/s. So you'd need to run the Clio up to 7700rpm to match it (23.87m/s).
I've always read that once you go beyond 25m/s then that's when things get really stressed.
No, sacrilege! Don't become a boost bandit!!
You'd probably want to stick low comps in anyway if you did that, plus R3 cams probabaly have too much overlap so you'll be wasting a lot of time and money to setup it up on boost properly. If all else fails..... ITB's (you know it's only right :D)
Too right, I need to see if I should invest in some R3 cams!! Though I'll be very keen to see where your idle is at with them. Simo on 197.net says his is 1400rpm with them, not sure that'd get through an MOT?
Cool, just found some pics on PassionFord which is probably yours so will have a ganders. Do you remember what depth the filter is? - Is it the one with 75mm internal room on SBD's site?
Def no room for that in the mk3 bay, but I'm struggling to find a big enough filter without going too big...
Ah ok, I'll follow it up cheers. Though the place (Cazan) on 197.net has now ceased tradiing.
45mm butterflys are probably ok given how close to the port they look to be situated. As long as the inlet tract maintains a decent taper (Jenvey use 4.5deg) that won't be an issue.
-Opening this...
Looks like it's mk2 as been looking at pics of the flanges online and the mk2 has 5 moutings on the top likes this does, where as the mk3 has only 3 moutings.
Can't see the lower mounts but between the mk2 and mk3 are completely different.
Really not convinced by AT's so was hoping these could...
Yep that is the system I am considering, hoping someone may already have it. Otherwise feedback on the mk2 system would be a good indication as to the expected quality of the product?
I deally I am looking for info on the Mk3 PMS system, However as I'm not finding anything on it I would also appreciate view from Mk2 owners. Obvioulsy the mk2 is a different system but in general is it a decent setup? Build, power and noise etc.
Thinking of replacing my Supersprint system as I...
