That grp stepped back plate works great with the shallow jenvey filters. 90mm trumpets fit perfectly inside.
My old engine running the Jenvey backplate and filter (90mm trumpets):
Socks always get a bad rep for hurting power and I've seen it first hand. I remember (about 12 years ago now, s**t getting old!) I saw a GTI-6 make an extra 13bhp on a back to back RR run by just removing the socks..!
Cheers, yeah most of the pics I've seen look flush. However I got a reply back from ITG, apparently it shouldn't sit flush and is meant to have a 2mm gap all around - this is to avoid overtightening and cracking any of the carbon.
Ah well, it wont effect things from a performance point of view...
Can anyone with an ITG tell me please if their cover part fits flush against the airbox?
The silver filter base on mine will not go fully over the raised ridge it seems. And because the cover is not deep enough, the only places it touches flush against the air box is where the screws are.
Not...
Hi, when would the latest for confirmation be?
I was planning to have a run at SRR once my rebuild is done which should be mid feb - so potentially perfect timing. But I don't want to part with any cash yet until I know the car is running and finished on time just incase there are any delays...
You can get those sort of things designed for purpose already, Wolverine heaters make them, but they dont circulate the oil in anyway. Suppose it's better than nothing and they are pretty cheap, could always have one of those and the coolant pump types.
Yeah thats the kind of thing, this one looks a bit low rent though as the power doesn't look to have any sort of weather sealing. Kenlowe list something similar on their website (small compact single piece item), but all the Googling for Kenlowe pre-heaters brings up results for some huge...
Whats a thermoplunger then? Where does it install on the DCi and would it install in the same way (same parts) on mine?
Sounds like it would be a more complicated setup? The main idea with the dedicated DEFA setup is I could ust hook the car up to the mains when I'm at home and leave it on, you...
Anybody got any experiance with engine block heaters?
Thinking about running one on my new build because with forged pistons it seems like a good idea to really help reduce wear - also I hate the cold so would be nice to have warm blowers in the morning! :)
Seems like there are 2 types but I...
True, but I still don't expect the idle is up to much, I think the Maxi Evo cams are 312deg judging from the text on the xrallyparts site? Guess you could always get blanks made up for solids using a milder hyd cam specification, but doesn't seem worth it.
No if you are able to get me a good...
Given the R3 Maxi Evo makes 250 on the standard inlet manifold, is it not possible to swap to the mk3 manifold rather than fully fabricating from scratch? If it requires some work to fit is it not likely to be at least less work/easier?
Ah right, in which case def the best kit to buy but still talking £1000 installed. All the mech cams are properly wild too, so probably want vvt delete and ITB's to make it idle...! Maybe next year!!
Nice, yeah they would be good but I would imagine the machining and labour to fit them would be as much again as the items themselves! Could spend a fair bit on that xrallyparts site, titanium valves, is that 150 euros each, no way it could be for the set so must be!
I presume the straight through types aren't fussy with their placement? I've still got a sports cat in the system so they generally wreck any form of pulse tuning anyway I think?
Do you actually need to replace your manifold though because of failed flexi's? I went for an R3 Maxi manifold and sports cat, in hind sight I would just gut the pre-cat on the standard manifold, that is what the R3 Access and Clio Cup cars do.
Re-reading I see why you may think I want 8.5k, sorry what I mean is my limit will be at 7.5k-7.8k - because I'll be running hydraulic's. However, if the bottom end (rods, bolts, pistons) and also top end bits such as springs and valves are all uprated etc to be able to run 8/8.5k etc, it should...
If I run uprated valve springs, valves, pistons, rod bolts and rods which are now looking like Arrow. I would have thought/hoped that lot would be good for a solid 8.5k really? Then given I'll be running hydraulic lifters and therefore capping the engine at say 7.5 - 7.8k it'll be as close to...
The cap design around the bolts has a very steep angle and I've seen similar rods (including but limited to PEC) with that design suffer fatigue/cracking at that point. If you look at Arrow and other top brands they all have a much smoother radius.
Also read just now about occasional oval big...
Hi chaps,
So PEC have a somewhat mixed review base out on the internet, and a respected tuner who's opinion I value wouldn't use them. I see a few people on here are running them so just wondering if anyone has had any issues with them?
I am having second thoughts about using them now and might...
What type of silencer did you use? Did you find out if the positioning effects power output at all?
My car is loud and too raspy at the top end, so starting to think about putting in a silencer in the centre section as I originally went unsilenced centre.
Cheers,
Induction kit, I've got a 200 so choices are limited and I don't especially want a dry cell battery which is needed for the v6. Basically it's ktec or nothing. But the std aitbox will unlikely flow 230 due to it being the same unit as even the 1.4's use I think.
Yeah I only know of 1 197 that ran ITB's, but I think that had 402's?
As soon as ktec actually finish the gen128 it'll open the door for ITB's on the mk3 really.
All of those cars are running 1*2 based catcams, anybody know of anyone using mk3 based cams/head? Looking to know what sort of bhp and torque something based on 403's might produce? Retaining VVT and hyd lifters I would have thought 230bhp should be achievable on a 200 head/inlet?
Cheers
Yeah mines a 200 so shouldn't have issues with fitment other than needing to fab up the 182 sprung joint, got all the bits now and it's going into the shop this Monday to be done.
You should be able to get forged pistons to work on a daily driver, after all various vag lumps use forgies as...
Nice sounds sweet, who did your head work and have you got any RR graphs? The Maxi pistons sound interesting too, how many rings? Mine will still primarliy be a road car so would envisage I'll be looking for a 3 ring quality piston like an Accralite or something.
I intend to run the Gen128 which...
