This is correct except put the sub where you sit.
Bass is non directional however most subs actually work slightly above the none directional frequencies, so sub position becomes important.
All rooms have a sweet spot where a sub works best but it depends on the furnishings etc as well as room shape, so it's best guess really at this stage.
I've had the Sigma 30mm and a nikon 50mm on my Olympus E1 which has a higher crop than the Nikon, and the I felt for most things the sigma was too short, and tbh the nikon gives nicer bokeh IMO.
IMO you should buy something you are happy working on and that parts are cheap on. 172s aren't exactly cheap for some jobs and need specialists. things like cambelts would be a concern for me if buying a cheap 172 so I would budget to have them changed amongst other bits.
