From experience mine handled like a crab without alignment done, far worse than dropping it and not doing alignment. Was almost undriveable when i took coilovers off!
Fantastic buy mate! Condition is far more important than miles, people get far too hung up on them. Ive seen so many cars with differing mileage in completely different condition, both visibly and mechanically. And the only person that see's the odometer when you're driving is you...
As said...
The st170 is lovely to drive. Feels weirdly underpowered though, whcih i wouldnt normally say about a car. Think power delivery is very linear, and un-torquey. Handling is amongst best ive driven though, just feels so nice.
Im after something newer! Have decided what i want, just gotta find the...
I can see what you're saying, but i think id rather be the guy driving the evo for the same money? I guess its horses for courses, and must be satisfying.
I wonder if you could just get the bus and bed megan fox for £11k?
Yep. Fun when you're n the mood, awful, absolutely awful when you're not.
I think in many cases its an age thing, i thought i looked the bee's knee's with a loud can on when i was younger.
Standard induction noise all the way.
Ah good effort mate. Have to keep the club updated on its longevity.
Impreza p1's go for 9k or so nowadays, scary fast turbo car. Evo 7? etc etc.
Id figure 11k or so for a 182 and all the work.
How many trackdays do you do a year?
If its less than one a month (and even then) just put it back to standard and enjoy it. Otherwise you drive a car thats s**t 360 days of the year, and what you want for 5.
Dave (legoheads) is a nice car, and one of the earlier turbo builds. Its quick, and sounds amazing. He's had a fair bit of trouble with it though, which may speak of the reliability of running a turbo on the f4r engine.
How long have you had yours for dms?
Sounds like you're enjoying it mate. Im looking at 3 cars at the moment, a 56 plate jetta sport 140 tdi in grey, 85k motorway miles. And a 55 plate focus st in blue, 60k miles. Also seen the tsi ive detailed above. Ive no idea what to pick!
Very different cars!
Cheers for the feedback mate :) how do you find the engine otherwise? Do you find it noisy?
What sort of average mpg does it achieve around town and on a stop start traffic run?
Ive seen a tsi up for £8k, sport model in black. Looks lovely, but being bigger than a golf im guessing mpg will...
Random bump, but how you getting on with the jetta mate? We have a few at work and i really like them :D
Id love to own the tfsi, proper sleeper that (mk5 golf gti in a jetta body... )
Plate needs to fill the recess to work, 3/4 size would look good... you can see the holes! And random space where it was. And normal black font would look so, so much better.
I think it spoils what you've done with the car (which looks awesome!) as it is im afraid mate :(
But, as the chances are it'll cost them a lot of money to repair, they may well make that choice for you and right it off. They'll then sell the crashed car cheap to a salvage yard, that may decide to repair it and it'll be on the road as a cat d. The only way i can see you'd end up with a cat d...
