Looks cool mate :) Wouldnt worry about chav, its a matter of opinion. Most non car lovers would say that any exhaust louder than standard is chav, any form of lowering is chav etc. If you like it, keep it. If you're worried, change it until you're 100% happy.

Had gmax on an old 1.2, ride is rock hard at best. Great for minimal bodyroll etc though. No idea on the 172 derivatives.

Prolines (black springs) will barely drop the car at all. Designed as a slightly stiffer handling spring. Sportlines (pinky red springs) will lower around 20-30mm, firm up the handling, ride will still be good. Id say you were after sportlines mate.
