If you use the reader to turn the code off, in most cases it will come back on 5 minutes later.
10bhp for a grand isnt a big difference though... a car with good brakes will leave one with light engine mods for dead on anything but a dual carriageway.

Good brakes are cheapest way to go faster.
Ds2500 pads, brembo discs, braided lines.
Following that, good suspension.
Any of the engine stuff etc will make very little difference in the real world. Exhaust will make the car feel faster. Decat will improve responsiveness. Same for induction...
If you mean fun as in not being able to fit in it, and spending lots on fixing rust, the mini.
If you mean fun as in, quick with brilliant handling, and spending lots on fixing everything else, the clio.

You still got all the spacers in the rear? If you've already taken these out, get some shorter rear springs ordered mate. Mark fish should be able to help you out :)
