After quiet a few weeks of being lazy and using the jetwash just to quickly blast the dirt off, I got around to cleaning it this weekend. Took quiet some time as it was in such a state, especially after last Sundays run out with Dr Jekyll and one in a million.
So I took the chance to take some...
Haha I wont hold my breath Fred. Your impossible to get hold of!. Checked the Valeo website for my local supplier and theres one near me so I'll give them a buzz tomorrow and if I get no joy I'll give you a call Fred.
CPA (Car parts & accessories).
Its exactly the same except theres a thread missing. There seems to be only two different ones for the 182. 110amp and 75amp. I got the 110 and my old one was 110.
Got me new alternator today, looked exactly the same as my old one. I thought great.
Went to fit it and it went on lovely. tried pushing the long bottom mounting bolt through the 2 holes in the bottom of the alternator and it wouldnt screw in.
So I took it back off and compared it to my old...
is the 182 ff alternator the 110amp or 75amp?.

I've ordered an alternator should be in tomorrow.
Just done another multimeter test, on idle the alternator is chucking out 12.07 volts and when the engine is shut off the battery voltage seems to increase bizarrely.
I'm sure I can smell a whiff of burning coming from the alternator too...
Kumho tyres seem to be underrated.
I wanted KU31's but my tyre place could only get KH17's which I went for and they've lasted a good 6 months and they grip really well. Only something like £70 a corner. I must have done atleast 8-10k miles on the fronts and their just about ready to be changed.
Cool, I'm pretty confident it is. Even if the battery was dead, the alternator should still be kicking out 14v when ticking over. Plus its whining I think.
Aux belt off for the 3rd time I guess!.
Am I right in thinking the alternator is shot?.
I put the multimeter on the battery when its running with nothing else switched on and it was kicking out 12ish volts and I know their supposed to kick out 14ish.
Could be the battery I suppose. Any way to eliminate one or the other?.
MarkCup gave me the idea of doing this when we were chatting he mentioned about the old breakfast run, as he used to do it with some others on here, guessing you used to do it aswell.
Heres my shots..
