Just to update this, I took it to a specialist today. He drove the car and inspected it on the ramp. I replaced the dog bone and upper gearbox mount. But he doesn't think the drivers side one is causing the problem either.
He thinks its the diff in the gearbox and would have to investigate...
Well I hope your problem is different to mine lol.
The specialist I took it to said he couldn't find the problem. He doesn't think it's the drivers side mount. He thinks it could be the diff in the gearbox but would need to investigate some more.
So looks like mines going to be expensive!
Replaced the two mounts and there's no change!
Starting to think it's something expensive now lol.
I've got it booked in to a specialist in the morning. Their going to have a look for me.
Maybe my problem is different. Mine does it repeatedly in reverse. Also sometimes when changing gear.
I've got a new gearbox and dog bone mount now. Hoping to get them on today :)
You must have a crap one. The back end on mine is planted and the standard brakes still surprise me for standard pads.
Agree with the throttle over speed bumps mind. But you can adapt your driving style to deal with it.
I can't really think of anything I dislike. Saying that I came from a...
Went for a blast earlier. Roads were damp but I was very impressed by the grip. I'm well pleased.
I think the sidewalls might be quiet soft as the car wiggles a bit but I haven't messed with the pressures yet.
Bit of an update.
I think the thud is present in neutral aswell.
With the handbrake on if I select reverse, release the clutch slowly I get the thud at the biting point, after that I can dip the clutch and bring it back to the bite with no thud over and over again. However you can hear a mild...
I hope their good I've got 4 in the shed that are being fitted this weekend :)
I've heard good things about them and some of the tyre tests on the web say their good.
I'm coming from kumhos so it will be interesting.
Oh I also checked the bolt holes on the upper gearbox mount and the nut at the bottom of the stud which goes through the whole lot. I got a spanner on it but couldn't turn it either way.
All I did was take the dog bone off and the upper gearbox mount off and there was nothing visually wrong. All the rubbers were in tact. Obviously there's no way I could replicate the stress an engine would put on them though.
I had the dog bone and gearbox mount off at the weekend. They didn't look bad but I might replace them just to eliminate them.
The thud seems most obvious in reverse.
If you manage to get this sorted I'd be interested!. I have a very similar problem!
When I lift my clutch to biting point in reverse its a very severe thud inside the car. Its not like metal to metal noise though.
This guy had the same problem http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?293245-Gearbox-Driveshaft-Noise.&highlight=driveshaft
No resolution there though!
I'm still trying to sort out the problem with my 182.
When I put it in to first gear and bring the clutch up to biting point the engine thuds.
No matter how much you try and feather the clutch. If you dip the clutch and bring it up again it's fine no matter how hard you bring it up. But If...
