Cant you just come across and then drive one home, drive it for 6 months to see if its a lemon and then register if its a good one? The registration/taxes isn't too bad in France iirc?
Cheers Harvey, that's what I thought it was just the doubt that paprika put in my mind with what he said.
It could have been a blow engine or even something more trivial like a rear beam etc with the current market value on RS clio's.
You can have the RR, I been as well burn my money rather...
That can't be true as there is two boxes which will detail if its been categorised and then if its been repaired.
My question is, are you allowed to have a car on the road (no trouble getting mot/tax/insurance) that is a category D but yet it has not been repaired by insurance.
Would the...
Question.
A car that's been recorded by insurers as a total loss cat d but not recorded as a repaired insurance total loss.
Is that cosher to sell or buy?
There's a load of nice cups on the go just now for sale ranging from 2.5-4k, I would personally by one strip it down, service everything and then do the mods you want and still be quids in. Trust me I have probably spent 2-3 maybe 4 times the figure you have in your head to get the car how you...
I know what I'm trying to say, even lightly tuned Civic's so circa 220bhp & 160lbft are nothing special other than above 120mph.
Fair enough the civic weighs a little bit more than a Clio. Contrary to what you have said they are pithless on anything other than flat road despite how they feel...
A Clio 172 and a Civic type are a good example of what's important and how power/torque affects a car.
Clio 165-170 bhp circa 150lbft, Civic 200bhp circa 145bhp
In a lap of a track they're almost identical in standard form (if its not too twisty ;)) although the Clio gives away power to the...
Decent project, <3 white clio's.
I do the exact same when I get a car, go through it with a fine tooth comb until I'm happy its how it should be. You never have to worry after that as you know what's been done and know the car inside out.
Been done, post #26 and you could get away with 25mm on the OZ f1's.

FYI all clio's with 197 callipers and 280mm disks need the callipers machined just to fit the disk, its not specific to going under a 15"...
You'll get there, it does look like it would scrub bad front and back though when its lowered a bit.
No that's fine George I misunderstood you the other day as saying you had done some machining on the outside of the caliper to clear the spokes, not the inside that's needed to fit 280mm disks.
What spacers did you end up with George and any pics of the calliper mods? They look to have loads on meat on them to machine away for clearance but I was too scared to try lol.
The wheel mounting face (hub)moves the same if you do it on the top mount or on the strut bolts. The wheel has to move the same to reach a given degrees of camber so the hub also has to do the same.
fyi camber is not read from the strut its the wheel face. Reading from the strut is the KPI...
Tracking will be affected with camber bolts you can be sure of that, any camber caster change moves the steering arm in, out, left or right to the rack so you'll definitely need the tracking done after.
I keep posting this pic and the same spiel but I have had nearly 5 deg on one side with the...
