Cheers mate, looks like I’ll be buying myself a Haynes manual! I have plenty of standard tools, just wondered if Renault had done the usual and invented a special tool to remove any part...
Thanks for the replies.
Ok so engine mounts and dogbone mounts are suspects then. Are these fairly quick and easy to replace? Will I need abnormal tools or is it best to get booked in to have them replaced?
Need to have that service and check done sooner rather than later then!
The car is new to me, have had it only 10 days or so.
Is the dogbone mount a common failure? Is it easy to replace? Should it have been picked up on an MOT?
The car is not decatted, the only mod (as far as I can see) is lowering springs. When searching for the suspected headlight noise last...
Yes the receipt is from :-
TANK AUTO ENGINEERING LIMITED
Unit 6, Foxtail Road, Ransomes Europark
IP3 9RT Ransomes Industrial Estate
Although I have just looked them up and it seems they are no more...
So I turned on the ignition to try connect my OBD reader and had a strange noise coming from under the bonnet. It really seemed as though it was coming from the headlights, as it was from both sides, but I can’t be 100% certain. I took a video to see if anyone has heard anything like it...
Cheers for that pal! Literally 10 minutes for me and near my dads unit so will give them a look.
It would be nice to get any common issues looked at. Hoping the car is all good as I am liking it more each day I drive it!
My first little purchase has arrived today.
Floor mats to go in as well as gear gaiter, headlight washers and the infamous boot trim screw that I couldn’t find! Not much but a nice start to my time with the 172!
That’s what I hoped. I’m just a bit OCD with cars and like to have them checked over. :)
I have another thread with lumpy idle and slight occasional hesitation/juddering when putting my foot down. Could these be linked to and timing issues?
Bought my 2002 172 last week and would like to have it fully serviced and checked over - hopefully by someone who knows these cars fairly well.
It has had belts, water pump etc done less than 10k miles ago, so should be fine for that. I just want to make sure everything is good with the car...
As per the title, my car has these conditions.
When idling, the car really moves, like a van. Revs appear constant.
Would this be engine mounts?
Second issue I noticed, when putting my foot down in fourth at about 25mph, the car seemed to hesitate a little, as though misfiring. Only time I...
Ok so I bought my 02 172 last weekend and generally like to get any car I buy serviced and checked over.
Have never owned a Renault before so is it best to take it to someone that deals with these cars all the time? Or are they fine to take to any trusted mechanic?
If I’m to take it anywhere...
I would please like to know what screw type is used to hold the interior trim on the bootlid, close to the handle.
I have all the other snap in types in place but here there is just a hole and the trim panel keeps popping off when I close the boot!
Thanks in advance!
Also, how can I access the...
True; maybe I'll just wait until the suspension knackers and put originals back in then!
What size wheel spacers can go in without any issues?
And thanks, second favourite colour behind LY!
I wasn't sure if it had but after going through all the receipts and paperwork, a previous had bought some lowering springs a couple of years back. Not sure if I'll try with original suspension setup...
Thanks for the reply.
Should the air box/filter housing be sitting on some sort of player or bracket then?
It's doesn't seem to be fixed down at all, just connected by the air infeed pipe?
Thanks :)
That was just a picture from the advert. It's raining to heavily here to get any more pictures yet!
Plans are to keep everything original and improve the condition overall.
I have noticed it has a 182 air filter housing, so need to get a 172 one asap.
Xenon washer jets have been...
So today I bought myself a Flame Red 2002 172.
Have always toyed with getting one, so happy to begin the journey!
It's a little tired and has had some strange additions ( and subtractions!), but I hope to get it back to original ASAP.
Here she is, go easy...!
I have been browsing for info on the site for a little while now. I have found this car which I plan to go view - NA02 MZL
Just wondering if it was ever a members car on here? Obviously would be nice if it was and also nice to get extra background info!
