I'm loving my T1-Rs, especially so in the wet. Find that in dry they are as good as the conti sport 3s that the car came with but in the wet far more readable
Completely driver dependent. I would imagine someone able to get the very best of a ph2 V6 would be the quickest point to point. If we're talking ham fisted joe bloggs then anything except a 172 cup.
Majority of Golf GTi's arent s**t though are they? 6 generations of Golf GTi and the only ones that were no good are the Mk3 and Mk4. Mk5 GTi was constantly praised as one of the best in its class, Mk6 looks to be going the same way.

Totally forgot to update this. Eventually the car went back to the dealers body shop, they had a look and decided that it was from small bits of metal that had fallen into the boot skin when it was drilled to fit the spoiler. The removed rust and polished the sill, and its never come back...
