I used 4 just doing my EPAS conversion LOL!
I do have an overwhelming desire though to strip mine down to a shell again this winter and build it back up with a proper loom and cup racer dashboard etc...
Yep mines a bog standard engine - ITB's, 182 manifold, sports cat, oreca group n exhaust - 194bhp
Mine was owned by sir_dave and came with a folder full of receipts from opie oils. He used it for motorway commutes and did 2 full oil changes with filters/plugs etc... twice a year. It runs...
I still don't understand how your car has no bias valve
My understanding was that the bias was either done with a valve over the rear beam or internally in the ABS system
But if you have no abs and no bias valve then surely the rear is gonna lock up loads?
Yep - nonsense
Mines had 2 oil changes every year and done 60-70k sitting at 70mph on the motorway. It makes 194bhp at 118k miles old
Compare it to a 40k engine that's just done lots of cold short journeys being ragged about and not serviced it's in very very good nick
You said after 100k they use oil and the valve guides are all worn. I think that's a bit of a sweeping statement. Mines done 60% of it's mileage sitting at 70 on long motorway runs and is absolutely fine.
But yes if you're going to fit new cams you might aswell replace them - I just don't...
Brilliant calipers - a lot of the 106 lads run these including myself back in the day. Excellent setup
The only disadvantage with them was always the offset - having to run quite deep dished wheels
Oh man - that's not good news. Better drop him a message
Yeah I know Joe from years back with the 106owners stuff - helped build the turbo car ;)
Every time I go out in it I feel like selling my bodies and going boost
We should just swap - then you'd get a reliable 200bhp engine hehe
Gah can't believe I missed this - Joes a really good mate of mine and was trying to make it over to see how the 106 ran, completely forgot about it.
Gutted
Can't believe your breaking it - I know it sucks when you get out for a day and everything goes wrong
I'm sooo tempted to sell my...
I drove to cornwall in Monacos - 8hrs. I literally couldn't straighten my back or stand at the end of it
It's like sitting on a piece of metal - might as well be no material
My bimarcos are one of the comfiest bucket seats I've driven in. Done a few hundred miles in them without stopping no...
I wouldn't sorn a car for 6 months outside
Mine gets a good wash and dry (including drying the coilovers etc... so they don't rust)
I usually give the coilovers a quick spray with some shock lube just to stop the rust.
Parked in the garage with handbrake off and a trickle charger on the...
I actually took mine from the back of the ignition barrel
The big yellow cable is switched on the 1st key turn position - so I stripped a bit of the cabling off that and soldered the small control unit wire on then taped it up
It means the EPAS runs with the igniton on and engine off which is...
I'd say that's about right.
Don't forget it's not all added weight - the standard cup column will weigh about 4kg on it's own
I'll weigh the bits I took off when I get home - let's make a little list seeing as loads of people are now doing this conversion :D
The PAS pump is very light - the PAS rack is a LOT heavier even with the pipes removed than the DCi rack
Like I said if you're just looping the standard rack I think it's actually a weight increase, but if you swap for a DCi rack there's definitely a decrease in weight.
Every bit helps at...
The PAS rack weighs a lot more than the DCi rack
I can pick the DCi rack up with my little finger
I'll weigh them this weekend as they're all now lying around in my garage
Wanna bet? ;)
If you swap just the PAS pump for an EPAS column you aint saving weight at all
But if you swap the rack to a DCi one it weights nothing and the cup rack weighs a ton
I'll weigh it all this weekend but i'd say 12+kg on the cup rack, pipework, pas pump, column - and about...
Buy 2 new rears, then talk to the lad you bought the car from, send him the faulty ones and get him to chase for a full refund, split the money or something
Piss poor customer service
I'll get a Lincolnshire meet thread up in June/July and we'll do a drive out ;)
Now let's stop spamming James' thread - at 228 pages it's bad enough already haha
If I had a quid for every time I've offered to help with the website, or help with the PFC website, or help with the show organisation, or help with photography and then it's just died out... lol
Lol I worried the same thing when you first look at it - but you have to realise the belt that's touching it (return to crank ) is running right to left in that pic so the water pump is running anti-clockwise
If you look at the standard setup
It also will run anti clockwise as the top belt...
You'll need the clips - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Renault-Wheel-Arch-Liner-Splashguard-Lining-Spruce-Fir-Tree-Clips-35mm-Head-/270998141935?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AClio&hash=item3f18bf7bef
And if you search ebay there's loads of arch liners for sale...
Just had a quick look and found this
And fits like this
Might be worth PM'ing wests renault to see if they're still available but they should be as they're used on R5's apparently
Oh sweet yeah if they still do them chuck the part number up mate
The cup bracket seems a bit overkill having that massive block of metal just for an alternator lol
