All car manufacturers are the same these days, I know people who've had new Beemers/Mercs/Jags that have had niggly faults and stuff. They're all trying to cut costs, and the offset of that is that quality suffers.
Although, I had a 54reg 206 XSi from new for 3 years, and it never had one...
It's not a fair test if we're talking about the Endura-E engined older Ka's, because they have a 59bhp absolute heap of s**t of an engine, it has pushrods ffs! Although, I know some pushrod engines are cool, R5 Turbo for example is rods iirc, but the Ka's old engine is NOT one of them... The...
This has been done, I think the thread even had the same f**king title. Is this just cos you know people will argue?
It'll be down the driver. Assuming it's a straight drag, a single f**k up, missed gear or whatever, and you've lost.
Step one, make sure it's nice an warm, drive for at least 15 minutes I'd say, keeping your revs variable, no long times at fixed revs - apparantly this is bad, no idea why, probably just b****cks, but what harm does it do to vary your revs?
Step two, give it death and beat the living s**t out...
Just for another note, my local Renault dealer is way better service wise than my local Honda dealer.
Honda dealer changed the pads on my mates CTR. About a month later he took it there for MOT (as it's free since he bought it there) and they said it needed new discs, so he had to get new...
Ah yea, I've just done the a size calculator here http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html and they're the closest aren't they, smaller difference than worn tyres would make! Do you get any problems with scrubbing or rubbing on full lock/over bumps?
Dan
To be fair, going round the ring when it was 32c outside, I was thankful of aircon hehe! Then I turned it off for max power on my 'solo' lap where my mates got out and I just went for it. I was absolutely drippin and almost passin out from the heat at the end hehe! I agree though, if I had to...
Just spotted these on Ebay -

Whatcha all think they'd look like on a 197? They'd need thinner tyres if course, maybe what 215/35/18? But I think they'd look sweet - they appear to have been painted black with a yellow or...
I don't beleive the Honda is cheapest to service surely? My mates 03 reg Civic Type R goes to the Honda dealer for servicing and his bills are always more than the £200 my first service on the R27 just cost. He had one once, where he needed tyres and front discs/pads at the dealer, and an MOT...
You should try an R27, or at least a FF 197 - preferably with the older gearbox too if it's gonna be an R27 you go for IMHO. Much nicer inside, I tested the Cup first I had my mate sat in the back doing his TopGear "nasty plastics" patter heh. The FF spec ones are much nicer looking inside...
MY friends pre-reg 1.2T Clio has them and I'd certainly never pay for them as an option. I just found them a bit irritating tbh - pointless gimmicy idea and just something to go wrong IMHO.
Maybe in the past, but with the advances in tyres and suspension etc, and the use of diffs and electronics - that isn't the case anymore.
From your own example, there is the 230bhp Golf GTi Edition30, not to mention the Megane 230, Seat Leon Cupra 240bhp, Astra VXR 240bhp, a string of FWD...
Some nice pics, I especially love that last one!
I'm not a huge fan of that sticker at the centre-bottom of your front bumper though, looks a bit out of place IMHO :)
Agreed, a good foaming makes washing to much easier, and can virtually clean the car. Also lifts and loosens all the dirt so you're not dragging it round your paint - which is obviously a good thing.
Rollo - did you not dry the car afterwards...?
Aye, I saw it on the A64 t'other week, certainly stands out! I think the problem is, it's not really any one style, bit of a mish mash. I reckon it'd work well euro'd - but that's just me :)
Just decided to wade right in without reading either the subject thread, or this thread eh? And also to attempt a joke based on it - brave.
It'll please you to know though that the 'lunatic' doing the cleaning was merely doing his job, for the owner of the car who 'rescued' it from him once...
You think? I reckon he wouldn't really have a chance against anyone vaguely experienced at driving quick - that's a really massive performance disadvantage he'd have, would be interesting to see though.
If you use the power, 31mpg sounds alright? It is a 2ltr engine with 91bhp/NA litre. Don't take too much notice of some of the mad figures posted on here :)
