you can get an engine for under £500 absolutely, but if you want peace of mind you should change all fluids and belts as its doubtful that any engine from a breakers will have service history! Though if your going to punt it and take a risk then hey thats your prerogative!

£1000 roughly to supply fit and install a new engine, so not too bad. Salvage wise its not worth £1700 in bits though imo without the engine, maybe borderline.
