Dad got struck last year, directly on the BT pole outside his house. His router had blown with black bits on it and the next three houses down the line had the same thing!
I remember the good old days of having to remove the aerial feed from the one TV in the house in case it got struck!
Then you have the issue of the Play 1 not being as good sound wise as two 6" speakers. Its horses for courses really.
But we would only use Play's as retro fit or additional children's rooms etc..
If doing a brand new renovation I think you'd be silly to not at least get the cables in.

You need a pair of speakers in each room as everything will be stereo whatever you use. A single stereo-mono speaker is more expensive than two in most cases.
Nothing is as good as Sonos, for the price. Simple audio is still a bit clunky but sound quality is better.

Easiest way, I thought about it many times when I had a few silver ph1's. Would of saved money on insurance admin and tax.
I can't see why the OP shouldn't just do that, easier switching the tax disc and plates than a whole engine. Plus 1.2 insurance and tax prices, win win!
Mine broke so I spent £7 on a new one, that then broke so I just left it. When a car is following with lights on at night they will see it, it doesn't really need to work.

The car will need a new wiring loom for a start would of thought, that isn't going to be cheap to buy or fit.
Most motor factors are great for parts, but 172 driveshafts they are not.
Every different variant has a different length, they will usually only supply one length. Go figure
I bet it doesn't fit, they never do. And it's usually when you've done your gearbox side and drained oil and refilled gearbox. Then you have to take it all apart because it's too short.
