If you're financial status means you can't afford a set of tyres - then buy some cheaper tyres - or save up for a bit longer. There isn't a supply shortage on Rainsports - you just can't afford them
PS. Nice reply
So the thread title is about a supply issue - but the actual issue is you don't want to pay decent money for them and are annoyed you can't get them cheap anywhere?
Lame - they're worth the money get them bought! Hardly worth winging about it just to save £20
Fair enough. But I removed the lovely shiny shims and the calipers were quite rusty.
I sanded them down to make the surface smoother but thought a little smear of copper grease would stop them sticking in the carrier
I've done that Fred. I didn't put copper grease on the pads just a ver light smear in the calipers where the ends sit so they can slide ok.
Why don't you use copper grease on race pads? Heat related?
Cheers guys.
Dave the shims were back in but now back in bin lol
Filed them down ever so slightly and put copper grease on ends. Work a treat
Bedded them in for a short drive and WOW.
Looking forward to FCS now :D
I've just got my ds2500s - the 565 model as recommended
I've read Freds advice to remove the shims and file down.
I've looked though and they don't have shims. Has the design changed?
Do I still need to file anything down before fitting?
Thanks
Soft my arse lol - you try doing better at 1/100th hand held :p
Also the focus is actually on if you view it at full size but the bloody drift cars vibrate like mad
Hard to find a balance between getting some movement in the shot with a slower shutter speed - and keeping the car looking crisp...
Chances are it's just fallen inside - if you pop the gear lever surround off you should be able to see it
Are you sure the alarm works - as obviously the central locking would still work off the keyfob in the same way even if the alarm had been removed
Brembo High-Carbon Discs and Ferodo DS2500's
Both ordered yesterday afternoon and both arrived first thing this morning
Good old demon tweeks - and massive thanks to "G 172" from here for the discs :D
You'll be struggling to get new bodies after the floods wiped out most of the canon/nikon factories :(
IMO you don't want full frame for track photography - you want the reach of crop
Full frame is lovely for portraits. I use a 5d MkII and 7d loads - the 7d's autofocus system pisses on...
7D - without a doubt
Got one 2 months ago - was shooting the drifting at mallory park with it on Saturday
The autofocus system is out of this world. Nothing else touches it. If you're doing motorsports it's perfect!
Video from Mallory Park yesterday
New suspension was brilliant - car was much more balanced and the back end felt better planted
The brakes were utterly s**t - completely killed them on the first session. By the time I got to the 2nd session (the youtube one) I had to stomp on them to get...
NAS Drive FTW
Get one with Raid and 2 x 1TB hard drives - that way you don't have to worry about network access
They share over the internet just by plugging them into your router
Job done - cost about £200
Earpl - no it doesn't lol
But then I can't drive with the windows up anyway because the exhaust deafens me lol
As I said it's just temporary for PPC and FCS so I can get some weight over the back wheels - then it's being replaced for a solid battery
I'm on in session G!!
The battery mount I hit with a hammer - it's going nowhere. I was a bit iffy about the strap too but it's doubled over and pretty secure
I don't want to spend too much money on it as I'm planning on swapping it for a race battery at some point
Camera thing does bolt into...
Been keeping myself busy this last week
Found a cheap battery tray on ebay so set about moving the battery to the boot
Chuffed with it - car isn't quite as back end happy any more which is a good thing and after attacking the gearbox mount bit with an angle grinder I found a nice place to...
