Really? Half the rear loom of the clio I just stripped is soldered wire to wire... ?
You know a LOT more about ecu's and wiring than me - but from experience solder is fine
I know a company that have done over 50 106 16v conversions and solder all the loom splices - these cars have been...
Re: Prima racing uprated exhaurst mount
Just ordered mine as well. Stuff having a load of cable ties and sockets bodged on for £35..
I've had 3 of the standard mounts this year alone lol
I've got an LED 23" samsung - cost about £160
It has DVI and 2xHDMI. It also has an audi out jack on the back so audio from the hdmi can be routed to a set of speakers
It's absolutely fantastic. Only 1cm thick, crisp and bright.
Definitely recommend one!
Good isn't it? I've got the whiteline ARB on mine - standard shocks and sportlines. Did the 'ring last year and was the fastest car out of our group by miles - the grip was insane
Can't wait to get back there this year with the 2118's and B14's :D
Yup - I know a few electricians, RAF electricians and motorsport engineers - all use solder, never had a complaint
But I've seen the soldering done by them and it is WAY beyond the skill level of me in my garage. It looks like factory wiring!
Crimps feel dirty to me - and you end up with big...
Well said
Had the sportlines on mine for a year and they are soooo good on track
I'm only swapping them now because I've ordered Bilstein B14's - but they're £800. Any cheaper coilovers is a step down IMO
Once soldered they should be in proper heat wrap anyway. There's far more chance of a crimp coming loose than there is of a proper soldered joint with heat shrink coming loose
There's a reason standard car manufacturers use soldered joints :)
Theres nothing at all wrong with soldered joints in engine looms - if done by a proper electrician that knows what he's doing
For 90% of us though - yeah it's a bad idea lol
I got a warning for excess play in the top mounts on my MOT - they've done 110k and need replacing
Fitting Bilstein B14 coilovers next week and it's a weekend/track car - so I'm thinking solid top mounts would be good
Is it worth fitting a strut brace with them as they put more stress on the...
Is there no way you could stretch to £700?
Kam racing are selling Bilstein at £700 at the moment and they are a LOT better than the stuff you've listed. They're also damping and height adjustable all round
Avoid Gaz - they get slated all over the forum.
Ahhhh I saw this at Bolton Abbey - I was there in my cup - the one with white 2118's on
Looked soooo shiney - made me feel ashamed for bringing mine lol
They're threaded holes - you dont need any nuts
Mine were rusty as hell when I took my hanger off at the weekend so if you haven't had any bolts in for a while I'd suggest getting an M8 tap and tap them out so they're nice and clean, then put a bit of copper grease on the new bolts
They're...
I just did mine this weekend!

I bought an £8 kit from toolstation that gave me a polishing sponge and a velcro backing plate for my drill
Got a dewalt drill with speed control - so attacked the...
Back to the stripping..
Massive thanks to a lad called Vossy on PoT for sending me a spot weld drill bit - it arrived yesterday so I got cracking
I managed to get all the old seat brackets off and only drilled through twice - the arch panels are soooo thin :(
But never mind I'll patch them up...
Had another busy weekend on the car
First of all I stumbled upon some Xenons on eBay at £140 with a few minutes remaining. I chucked a cheeky last minute bid in and won them for £140
They had all bulbs/ballasts etc.. and all clips were intact - just the usual corrosion - so bit of a bargain...
I'm hoping so!
Doing a quick 15minute session at mallory park in 3 weeks just to see how it behaves. Then booked the 3hr open pit session at rockingham for FCS.
Want to get back to brands hatch asap too - did that last year and loved it
Well I had leather rear bench - which weighed a ton...
Cleaned it to within an inch of it's life yesterday - thought I'd take some proper photos with the new wheels and stance since it got stripped
My xenons are supposed to be arriving via courier today - so I'm gonna get them machine polished and fitted at the weekend.
Tomorrow I'm ringing Kam...
