Coilovers are a must, the MK3's sit very high as standard. Coilovers will drop your ride height and providing you get them setup well improve handling too. A 197 grill will also sharpen up the look of the from of the car.
They would be my first points of call when modding a MK3.
The Megane isn't heavier though, they're the same weight. The Clio also doesn't have a LSD either. The Megane is also already boosted so it is much easier to tune. Stage 2 will give nearly 280bhp and over 320lbft. Then there are other options up to 300bhp.
The Clio on the other hand is...
I'm sure somebody got bad rr results after fitting one of these. If its just noise you want may as well get an open cone. An espace V6 airbox with silicone bend will provide both extra noise and increased responce. This seems to be the best IK setup.
As far as i'm aware there is no off the shelp options for the 197 or 200. Its taken untill the 1*2 is 10 years old before there is a lot of off the shelp options. Its only really the last 2 years that forced induction has become common.
To be fair Sir_Dave does a lot more than average mileage so petrol and consumables costs are inflated over what most peoples would be.
Still a good guide though, they're not as cheap to run as it would appear for a car that is cheap to buy.
W17GLE did it on his. Didn't do Climate though.
I suppose anythings possible with enough time, effort and money.
If I had an unlimited amount of cash i'd put a full 182 interior inc climate and cruise into a PH1 172. Well bar the seats, i'd use 197 Recaro's.
Have a look into rebuilds. Theres a few members on here who know some very good people who will do it. That way you can guarantee your getting a fresh boxrather than gambling on a second hand one.
PM Burp he knows a guy who does it cheap and very well iirc. Others like Fred also know people...
It would becuase the 65's and 80's use the JC5 'box. However the ratio's would be far too long for use on a petrol clio. It would make it extremely slow and 5th gear would be vitually redundant iirc the dci's sit at about 2.1K in 5th at 70mph.
Theres a 340bhp turbo trophy on here using a dci...
It would be impressive to see done. However its only going to be as quick as an ITB'd 1*2 as the K20 produces 197bhp (which it actually does produce unlike the F4R's). It seems like a lot of effort for little gain over a now relitavely simple F4R conversion.
200's arnt even that expensive. £199 a month and a £999 down i'd have one tomorrow if I wasn't going to uni. Loads of <21 year old people have £199 a month cars.
I sold my 172 after 7 months. I had a change of circumstances which meant a car wasn't necessary. I'll probably end up back in another one simply because of how much I miss it. I had planned on keeping it untill it died.
Re: r26 progress thread. (mods delete old thread)
Because Naith always does it with his car at meets etc.
I'm impressed with your quick progress though mate. Good mods you've done there. I'd have gone straight for stage 2 personally to save on mapping costs but I suppose you get to feel the...
The 182 uses improved inlets as well though, especially if RS stamped. So maybe this makes it feel a bit more torquey as well.
The manifold definately makes a difference but for me theres no way i'd spend a fotune upgrading to it. Matched inlets and a remap for pretty much the same money as...
That doesn't sound right, the Clio should be quicker straight line too. The Mini Cooper S Gen 1 were only 163bhp, power to weight of 143bhp/ton. Evo recorded the 0-100 time of 19.9 for the Mini and 17.3 for the 172 Cup.
