I love it. I'd love to find a mint, standard unabused one. Like this will be when your finished with it. If you decide to sell you will get good monies for it.
Insurance prices seem to be getting worse. I got a quote on a ph1 172 for nearly £4K yesterday 20, 3 years licence, 2 NCB. Last year I could get a quote with 1 less of everything (age, experience and ncb) for just under £2K.
I'm never paying over £1K for insurance again. I've done it twice...
I've only ever driven a ph1 172. I keep meaning to try a ph2 to see the difference but I liked the chuckability of the ph1. Whether the 80odd kg weight increase affects it a lot or not I don't know.
I personally felt a lot happier with the handling of my ph1 after putting eibach sportline...
I love Ferrari's. I've driven a 355 and it was awesome. Nothing compared to the new ones, the paddle shift was terrible but they're just such a special car. Possibly i'd enjoy a newer one less because they're too refined, albeit probably not.
I was happy with the ph1 airbox with removed caf's on my 172. I felt it had a bit more response without the standard caf's, they seemed slightly restrictive. I'd be lieing if I said I did it for anything other than the induction noise it gave though.
The cylinder head is different too isnt it? If you've already got a 172 'box in there would it not be easier to just fit an engine from a 1*2 you can pick them up cheap off here from people breaking cars on here. Just an idea.
The cars got a lot of potential.
It may look horrific but for £400 I can't think of many ways to go faster for less £. Realistically you could have that out on a track for £1000 in good nick.
Turini's transform the car so much. I hate ph2 wheels, they just ruin the look of the car.
As above, clear side repeaters will improve it a lot more too.
I enjoyed it at Oulton. I liked the drifitng and time attack. I also spent about an hour just walking around the car parks, so much interesting stuff there.
The 182's have taken the biggest hit. This time last year when I was looking at ph1's and cups, a decent cup was at least £4K now you can pick up a very nice example for just over £3k.
I'm sure decent examples will still fetch good money but there are also bargins out there.
Is it me or in the last few months have prices really dropped for 1*2's. I sold my ph1 172 in Aprill and looking now I think I would probably get £400 less for it.
A good 182 is now into the late £4K's. The drop seems pretty sudden however as we've got into summer.
Its making me really...
