I had one of those "never thought theyd drive a 172" moments today tho. Was aware of a Cup a bit ahead of me in traffic. Got on the M27. Caught it up. Was some old woman with a fag hanging out of her mouth, doing about 65 on the motorway!
172 is my weekday and occasional weekend car. Use just a quick sprint to and from the office 4-5 days a week. Have a big C8 7-seater as the family car, which is what I drive most at the weekend. This is how come my new V6 will still be "practical" despite me having 3 kids :)
Yep ... added some standard colours ... Inferno and Moonlight Blue. Liquid Yellow and Petrol Blue are extra i.d. colours.
I agree a Liquid Yellow V6 would look great ... but Im not up for paying the extra grand and waiting longer to get the car.
Im not a huge fan of Inferno personally...
Mike ... are the drivers side mounts the same on the 172s and 182s? Any changes ever made to uprate them at all? Fact that 182s seem to be having problems suggests that nothing has been improved.
The Liquid Yellow is lovely ... but its also £1150 and will add significantly to the delivery time I reckon (compare James wait with telford_mikes or TheRonins).
There are two yellows available now under i.d. paint option on V6 ...
- Acid Yellow ... the lime colour ... hate it. Thats the one in the threads that Slugger pointed to.
- Liquid Yellow ... exactly the same as the 182 ... love it...
So after much umming and erring ... Ive finally ended up ordering a red one too.
Was originally going to go for red ... looked so good on the Top Gear review of the Mk2. But then I changed my mind to silver (which is why I had the pictures to post in the above reference thread). Decided...
I drive it really hard and over 10k miles I averaged 32 mpg! 172/182 engine is designed to be driven across the full rev range ... touching 7.2krpm isnt going to break it!!
Exactly what Im planning on doing if it cant be trailered. In fact not sure I want them trying to get a V6 on a small trailer anyhow. Driving from the dealer back home allows you to run the car in over more than local drives.
Yep ... exactly how I got my test drive yesterday. Do it thru the Renault web-site and they sort it all out for you via email. Youll probably get asked some "qualifying" questions tho since not many dealers have V6s and theyre careful about when they let them out.
Renault were putting petrol in it for me. Where the dont let it out of the showroom very much ... hadnt been moved for 4 months ... they dont keep much in the tank.
172 still feels very fast ... even after stepping out the V6 it didnt feel slow. Different sort of delivery ... 2nd gear on cam in 172 is always going to be a great experience :D
Back to driving (very slightly) more sensibly again today ... dont want to hurt it now ;)
Kathy ... will be a UK car ... just pre-registered. Being the 2nd owner on paper makes no odds to me at all since Im planning on keeping the V6 for the forseeable future.
Nah ... reckon Ill got for piss ... err ... acid yellow ;)
In all honesty this V6 colour choice has been doing my head in. Was going to be Red after seeing the original top gear review. Then decided on (rare for 255) Silver since car is then monochrome (well duo-chrome) with just black and...
You dont want that one ... you want this one ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72205&item=7945660907&rd=1http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72205&item=7945660907&rd=1
Ive got a special edition on mine which goes up to 11 :p
