For £300 he will have had the cambelt done and an aux belt, not kit. Just get a aux belt kit done for peace of mind. NW Performance did mine at a really good price using genuine Renault parts.
If you got 5k for the 182 and then spent 2k on a ph1 172 I don't think that would be a bad move if you are trying to save a bit of money. You might find a decent 75k 172 with the belts done for 2k, then just put a bit of cash to one side just in case anything does go wrong.

That does seem a lot, what's your postcode like? Have you tried companies like Bell, Elephant and Admiral? They seem to be cheap when I was first insuring a car in my own name.
I've had 5 sets of Oz F1's in the last year, 2 were 16's and 3 15's. I don't think they look better than Turini's but I suppose they are an alternative.
4 hours is a bit far away, but the service there is second to none.

No it's not just you, a fair few other people have said it isn't ideal, including myself.;)
I'll get something bought pretty soon to replace it. But to be fair it does sound good, better than previous systems I've had on 172's (Janspeed and custom stealth).
Again cheers for all the comments, did expect a couple of negative ones as it did take me a few weeks to get used to the wheels.
