Dependent on how much damage you have done to the engine, I could put in a little offer to buy it off you.
it may help towards your new engine funds ;)
I'm puzzled, how does it sound normal when cranking it, yet it won't turn over?
does the engine actually turn over but won't fire into life?
if its not even turning over then a lack of petrol isn't going to alter that situation.
Removing ABS isn't the same as it being there but not working with a fault.
you can not fail a car on something it doesn't have.
same as a stripped out car, removing rear seats and seatbelts, they can't fail it for the rear belts being faulty!!
TBH Chip, it pulls like an absolute train, agreed the initiall kick up the arse that you get as it comes on boost does tail away as the revs rise, but the thing certainly doesnt ever feel like it wants to give up going.
once its conquered its attempts at pulling the front tyres apart and you...
Guys, in ref to my graph, I'm sure at some point this morning Chip will add a more understandable answer and reasoning as to why the type of engine peaks like that.
but from experience, it's never been that rare to have an already torquey engine which is also turbo'd to hit its peak torque that...
Are you doing the equation using a LBFT figure, or a NM figure?
the theory above needs to be converted from NM's.
so you may have to do an equation before you do the equation ;)
Dave, your equation is pretty much spot on indeed.
440lbft or converted to 596nm.
596x3400 = 2,026,400
2,026,400 / 5252 = 385.83 BHP.
im suitably impressed, that my new lesson for the evening.
Cheers guys :)
Ah gotcha.
it hit peek torque at 3350 - 3400rpm.
And looking at the other references Dave added, the lbft and BHP do actually cross over as near as damnit at 5252rpm.
Dave, I know what power it made, I was more curious at how Mike would work it out!?
im not trying to catch him out as I have no idea how you would calculate it, I just hoped Mike would reply and say you should have XXX power figure and shock me by being pretty much correct :)
ill pull up the...
Mike, one for you then buddy.
if I said one of my cars was 440lbft when it last made it onto a set of rollers, what BHP would you suspect it of vaguely being?
if I have miss-interpreted your comment then im sorry mate.
Damn Chip, this time yesterday i was all set to plan forwards for the ITB's.
you are now dangling that carrot again thats swaying my mind :(
admittedly i cant see the graph pictures from work, so ill have a peek a little later.
I'd guess you are over tightening, not seated correctly or not using the wrench squarely
I put on/off wheels on a regular basis, changing for track days etc, and never had this problem.
Surely if you had access to a diagnostics machine, should have had access to what each code is!?
id say injector, they are a common issue and symptoms can be exactly as you described.
Sticky is keeping well Chip, I speak to him a lot and still see him from time to time.
aiming to see him at donnington end of the month.
Gaz, are you going mate?
i think the car is still on 187k, or there abouts, I will double check when I go back down to the unit.
hoping to get it in to a...
Should have gone in the projects room the way you are writting this thread.
The hiccups you have had are just simple little jobs, and cheap mayo fix aswell.
seems your doing pretty well with it.
Sorning the car means you are declaring it off the road, which is fine but this is what you do when you dont want road tax and are happy to leave it tucked in the garage or on the driveway.
it wont effect your MOT.
But if you still have 6 months Tax, and still wish to SORN it, then you wil need...
If you are happy to bring it over to Copthorne I'll be able to do it for you, possibly next weekend unless I've forgotten something I'm supposed to be doing.
Cheers for the responses guys, I am fully aware that the green is a 'marmite' colour, you definetly either love it or hate it.
i didn't want to go OTT with the looks, it already stands out like a sore thumb anyhow, so the way it looks is how I am happy with it, even tho I did once change to Comp...
With all of these MK2 FRS threads popping up, I thought I'd jump myself on to the bandwagon and pop up a couple of pictures aswell.
opinions for and against gladly welcomed.
