As said above, just turns the speed limiter off. To turn the cruise control off press either the clutch, brake or accelerator

Well that explains why your mpg is fairly low, my old 1 litre seat arosa, would love town drives, 30mph and you the car could be put in 5th gear without choking the engine, whereas on motorways it wasnt the most fuel efficient car... what im say is, the 1.5 you have now, might be alright on...

What sort of journey do you drive at the moment, is it alot of 30 road and town driving, or is it more of a roads 40 50 and 60 roads?

I think he meant that your title says 52 when the reg is actually 02 :) as said easy mistake :)

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the amount of tax left on the car when you sell wont matter anymore. With the new system, it means that when you sell your vehicle, you will get a refund on the amount of tax left and the new buyer will have to tax it themselves :)
