I got £2k in the end, took forever to find a buyer though! I barely had any interest for a good few weeks, mainly because it was a '97 and had done 85k..
Condition-wise it was the best car I've ever owned, had a shed load of history too; shame the new owner seems to be ruining it with morettes &...
£1750 is a superb price! Could have got more if you were willing to wait, but it sounds like you've hit the nail on the head having so much interest! Nicely done.
That's true. The only difference I felt was that it freed up the top end slightly. To be expected really, nothing is going to give you massive gains with such a small engine, other than adding a turbo - which would be monumentally stupid! Lol
No worries! It's the earlier 16v engine I had, looks like this:

I know they updated it at some point with a different throttle body and moved the air box to the top of the engine - around 2003? Might be a different story with regards to sound, but I doubt it tbh!
No...
I tried all sorts in my 16v - hardly anything would make it pop. Just got the occasional one when changing down and letting the clutch out slowly... The induction noise is pap on the 16v's compared to 8v's, it's just droney and boomy - could be down to the weird throttle body/inlet mani they have?
+1
Bang the s**t out of a standard cat. It's not going to make any difference to performance whether you buy a proper one or just bodge one up.
Also, if you're expecting any pops or bangs you're going to be disappointed! They're really boring engines :(
Mine, with a Ktec stealth:
That is seriously mint! You won't have much trouble shifting that. I can almost guarantee you'll miss it... I still don't think I should have sold mine :dapprove:
True as that may be, I'd rather have a car that's similar to another guys on an internet forum than having something that doesn't look great just for the sake of being different. Having Jap style wheels on a Clio is surely unique enough! It's not like you've gone with Turini's/2118's..
Looks great, I love a good Flamer! Have a look at ch!ppen's: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?618844-Flamer-now-has-Cup-Spoiler
It's about as good as it gets when it comes to Flamers
Oft, need to polybush mine when I get chance/money!
The worst part is going to be finding the problem... just fingers crossed it's nothing bottom-end related eh!
Yeah, they're in brilliant condition too so I shouldn't have much trouble getting shot of them. I'll see what they look like first...
It's in driff at the moment, yes. It's currently garaged though...
Haha, patience Rhys! Next weekend I'll crack on, wheels will be going on, the exhaust will be getting butchered and I'll have to get measurements for a seat subframe too.
Also got some Gtechniq G1 & G3 to try out on the...
All in good time! 4x brand new Toyos & 205 Speedlines in mint condition for £160 was too good to pass up! I'll sell the cyclones amongst some other stuff, get some MO5's and sell the Speedlines (or use them for track wheels!) :approve:
The 205 Speedlines turned up today, they look absolutely immaculate from the picture I've been sent from my dad:
So they should be fairly easy to sell on if they look pants. Progress with the exhaust etc will start next weekend when I go home...
