if it were the TDC sensor surely the car would still turn over rather than click?
My Mrs 182 wouldn't start last week, it turned over but would not fire up so i changed the coilpack at first but turned out the TDC needed a good wipe.
TDC is always a great place to start, rules something out...

absolutely, to be honest if you are looking to get a house soon my advise would be to wait until you're all moved in etc before taking out any type of loan/finance etc as like Richard said this will be used against you.
