What would constitute it being weak as we testing it with a mulit meter and it appeared ok, must have just bee the dirt.
I will keep my eyes pealed for TDC sensor anyway however as its better to have it should it pack up, i've got a spare coilpack now might as well start a little collect ;)
long story short, its now working.
We took the TDC sensor off to give it a clean, to be honest it had next to no dirt or grime on it but wiped it down anyway.
low and behold when put back on it fired up first time, happy man i am!
thanks for everyones help with this.

So let me get this straight as i've never even looked at lease/finance deals or similar.....
If i have £6000 now i could potentially pay the £1000 deposit, then whack the rest in an account which the £199 a month would come out of.

Turned ignition on and off 20 times - no joy
Removed the black connect under the glove box, had ignition on for 30 seconds, pluged...
if i were you paul i'd advertise in the 'Car parts for sale' section as from what i've seen these are popular but another seller is not being to great with posting them out, plus they are charing £4 so if you can do 2 for that price you're onto a winner
tbh if i were you i'd chuck a grand at your 106, then you'll be competition for a standard 172, having said that you'd clearly need to spend more to get a similar standard of handling.
which is the immobiliser light, the red led one on the dash?
all warning lights stay off when ignition is on, however do flitter when trying to turn over.
So would the TDC sensor prevent spark, i thought this linked with the fuel
Right well long story short my Mrs' 182 wouldn't start on the weekend, turned over but wouldn't fire up.
Greenflag man came out and diagnosed it as being the coil pack.
replaced the coil pack tonight but still no change.
My mechanic mate came round to have a look and after found that we had...
