Insurance is ridiculous for 1*2's. I just got a quote for £1400 - 19 with 2 years ncb & top postcode. Whereas it's like £700 for a dCi - still not great, mind..

Easily. dCi = 130bhp & 190ftlb's with a remap 1.6 is 110 standard? Trying to squeeze any more power out of that is difficult - unless you go throttle bodies etc... IIRC dCi100's were as much as 182's brand new when spec'd up.

You'll want to die if you get 60mm springs, the ride is pants and they're just not quite low enough (imo) At least with coilovers you can choose the height. plus you're replacing the dampers at the same time so the ride isn't That bad... or not as harsh as just springs, anyway!

Your mates corsa doesn't have a cdti engine for starters - so its old fashioned. And who the hell goes around racing from the lights? In the real world, you need mid range punch and you'll get F**K all from a 1.6. 34 mpg for a non-sport is horrendous too!

If you're seriously considering changing cars, go and have a look around a dCi and a 1.6 and have a test drive etc - you're the only one who will be able to decide if it's worth changing tbh!

I thought you'd need a different exhaust for a 1.6? Aren't they different sizes? A 1.6 would be pointless IMO. It'll drive more or less the same as your 1.2, and you'll get used to the extra power in like a week.. At least a dCi is going to save you a fair wedge. Other than buying it...

Bigger intercooler, injectors, turbo etc if you want big power. Remap will give you 130bhp and a s**t load of torque, going by Martin_172s old one - send him a PM, he was very helpful when I was thinking about getting one! Oh and tax is 35 quid a year on 100s iirc
