Taking my time with it, not going over board, but no real need to rush - im hoping to have it mobile for the Combe action day in Sept, hoping the cage will be in by then.

It all falls down to your budget.
For a noticeable gain, and a generally well known good setup is as follows:
Panel filter (the ph1 172 airbox is a good design)
Cat back exhaust (You can remove the cat, but the ph1 cat does flow pretty well - if you rempve it it will be a lot louder)...

Oil pressure sender
Wiring fault
Low oil
Oil pump fault
But as you say is goes when driving id say low oil pressure on idle could be (putting it basic) engine wear :(
What oil do you have in there now? Too thin and it could be letting the pressure go too low

What impresses me most about yours is how late you can brake - plus how stable under braking it seems for such a light car.
Shame it will be broken - worth offering it for sale as complete? As a track car you cant ask for much better

You must have a weird set of ratio's or a misleading speedo to have that much variance in speed! 100mph was on the 7500 in my old VTS in 3rd, where 4th only ran to 127 @ 7500
they can handle 7800 - but i wouldnt want to go above that - especially as standard power is around 6700
It shouldnt return to a normal limit, id say either the rev counter had a funny 5 mins or they moved the cold limiter up to 7200 from 6500
