Re: 182 performance hesitating when reaching the variable cam timing point in the rev
Correct, vvt cuts in circa 1500 rom, (1650 from memory) and cuts out i think 6500 - it is not for perforance.
the 5k kick is simply the engine (putting it in old terms) 'coming on song'
Listen to Mick in...
are you sure you may have hit the cold limiter before, and now you are finding the warm limiter?
cold limit is circa 6500, warm limit is 7200 1st/2nd, 7000 in 3rd/4th/5th, or 7500 for mapped cars.
what did you rev it to?
b****cks, I meant September lol (you best be coming!)
Yeah I have to do another conversion mate, for bang per £ my old one was such good value, and I know I can make it better and cheaper this time round :)
Yeah I can't think where the rear shocks are........ ;)
Only literally around the corner mate, about 200 years from where I am now lol
I might go a slightly different design with the cage, still plaaning things out, it's going to take a couple of weeks but watch this space :D Im desperately...
im pretty happy il be able to itb this one for less than the first time round - as I know what's needed, I spent about £200 trying bits and pieces I didnt need lol.
Iv been trying to think of a way to do it on a ph2, im still trying to think of a way, il drop you a PM once iv worked a few bits out
Lol if it helps I know the feeling, looking at moving even though iv just paid for a holiday on an island off the coast of Florida lol Skint isnt the word
its just missleading mate, imagine if you had no idea about cars, and got told for, lets say on average £350 on a remap will get you a very decent power increase over standard, which it wont.
I understand on the smoothness thing, a decent mapper would make any car 'feel' faster by making more...
thanks, im fully aware how cars are mapped/ configured ;) as fred stated i was merely stating the difference between a gineric Map and custom, i stated the word 'chipped' as that is what most people still refere to as a gineric map :)
Idle control valve mate - a duff throttle body wont cause the revs to hunt as the tb is a flap attached to a cable - the cable has to be pulled to open the butterly, so id say icv
Just 'chipped' then no it wont make a difference - a custom map then yes but hardly anything.
Bear in mind a open induction kit will loose you power not gain
So true mate, iv made plenty of the same lol.
Once set up (make sure you take it somewhere with experience i can recommend Fred as iv used him) I will lay a very big bet it will be a completely different car :)
I think what Tony is getting at is the car was great fun when standard, but when modified without the correct insight into things like setup it can ruin a car rather than make it better.
Not your fault mate, just some steps that you need to take to get the best out of the changes you have...
lol no worries mate :)
Yeah I looked long and hard at it, but for me, it just didnt offer the gain for all the work required - Id rather look at the whole issue - matched inlets help as they are generally cheap enough to do, but in general (imo) the standard inlet is the limiting factor on n/a...
Kind of.
You would be able to get a gain if the manifold was better - the way it is the manifold is the largly limiting factor in my own opinion, hence why itb's usually get good results - my own home brewed itb conversion gained me 37bhp and 15lb ft of torque (with an increase of torque circa...
I wil state, techincally you 'could' get gains from a larger single body on a Clio, but you have to do it properly.
As iv said, when I tested the standard inlet (on a friends rolling road) the standard inlet could take more air - but in my opinion you need larger cams with a worked head and...
Even matched inlets dont give the increase needed for the larger single body in my opinion. The unmodified manifold could take more air in, but bear in mind the increase that itb's give, (with x4 45odd mm inlets) the extra that an enlarged tb would give would be tiny - a few bhp at max on a...
For anyone who has not met me yet, il be on my stand BSE motorsport, in the middle of the paddock by the food vans - come say Hi as iv been meaning to put faces to names for years lol
Lol cheers mate :)

Id get a rolling road done at a seperate Rolling road before, then again at that same rollers after the work mate - to compare to what superchips results are
