its because it has 2 voice coils dual 4 ohm just connect the neg to the neg and the pos to the pos to create a 2 ohm load then onto a mono amp tahst 2 ohm stable

i was in the same situation 18 months ago and bought a ph1... always felt like i had the cheap 172 sold it and got a ph2 but on that budget i wouldnt even think about getting a ph2 as it will be tahsed.. ph1s are very cheap now tho
