Lol, thats was “Revs” ... pretty sure it was an S16 or Xsi, but either way, that photo sequence is probably burned on most 35+ year olds car brains now!! Pistonheads LOOS their long-term 306 Rallye into a hedge fairly recently as well iirc.
Edit, found the photos ...
Lol
Drive a 306. Any 306. You will find that the definition of lift off oversteer was written following the launch of said car :ROFLMAO:
I nearly crashed my Rallye 2 minutes after picking up for that very reason.
Nothing too exciting, but gave it a quick clean yesterday (estates take way longer than convertibles & saloons though :ROFLMAO:), then coded the digital speedo and the mirrors so that they fold/unfold on the keyfob. After that it was insured/taxed so that i could go for a little drive...
So then, onto last weekend ...
More new tools arrived in the shape of a Laser 5258 overhead spring compressor - very cool piece of kit!!
Testing on the spare cylinder head i bought for "practice":

Then doing it on the cylinder head proper:

I think it is, still wont have been cheep to fix though, purely as ive had to buy soo many new tools :ROFLMAO:
So Friday was 325i day.
Valve cover back off, timing tool fitted:

Timing chain tensioner removed, vanos hubs removed from cams, top half over inlet...
Bit of pre-trackday tinkering (doing Goodwood on the 6th May) completed last Thursday, just to make sure its had all its maintenance items done before hand.
Firstly, spark plugs. These were apparently only done 25k miles ago by BMW, but when the correct Bosch ZGR6STE2's are only £50 from ECP...
Ill have a look next time im out there messing with it (y)
No lol, thats our neighbours, he bought an F10 530d to replace it. 3 YEARS AGO
Its sat there ever since. Turbo has gone iirc. Feel free to offer me peanuts £££'s wise to take it away!!
I try :ROFLMAO:
Definately!!! Purely as the manifold and EGR bolts look like they'll be an utter pain to get to lol.
Any idea where i can find out the towing weight on the car? The e90 doesnt seemt to have a VIN plate anywhere like the old e46's ... just the number.
All i can find online is that it'll do...
Thought i might as well detail this cars rebuild on here - i certainly put all the other cars, so makes sense!
Excuse me if its a bit of an info dump from a variety of different threads, but it saves me having to re-type everything (y)...
I'm just HODLing :ROFLMAO:
Have 1 ETH and 5 LTC from back when i was trading them a bit more. Think they owe me about 600 quid, currently worth £460.
Up from about £250 a few weeks back lol.
Sod buying anymore.
@Mozza135 Thats REALLY cool!! Glad it was used for something decent after i got rid of it.
Might explain why its for sale so cheap here as well: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201901083742906 :ROFLMAO:
Gave the 335i its first clean since buying it yesterday.
Always a slight concern after buying something second hand, you never quite know how much (even more lol) of a turd it is underneath all the polish!!
Happily, the car isnt really any worse than i initially thought and the issues is does...
For lack of insurance, he'll probably get 6 points and a fine.
The fine will likely be far less than if he'd actually been paying insurance premiums.
Tax he'll probably get another fine.
MOT, im not sure anyone really cares?
Haha, i sold the N52 330i to @Rob a couple of weeks ago, the N54 335i is my new "main" car :geek:
Re: the 325i touring, it will be sold yes, i dont want to break it (due to its rarity), so i had planned on fixing it, then selling it. Probably in a couple of months id imagine. On the flipside...
In the end, with the touring having nav, there was only really going to be one outcome here ...

Gotta love BMW "wood" trim haha
I did actually buy a CIC for it...
In the 14 years ive been on Cliosport, ive heard alot said about ktec maps - peoples preference to load a TomTom map of Belgium onto their ECU instead, their ability to kill engines & produce eleventy billion horsepowers, but only on their dyno, but never once have i heard about one of their...
Dont they export them to remove the marker as well, then just bring them back over again and voila, no more Cat D?
Great article, looks like you'll be getting the press you deserve!!
lol, i think we both know what i was getting at!
You, like me, are incapable of leaving anything standard, so dismissing the MLite because its a turd as standard is a bit odd
Especially considering your current Octavia VRS is boring out the factory, then better when tinkered with, as...
IMHO, they arent particularly great on the road as standard lol.
The problem with the MLites is very much what you are coming from.
If you are coming from a "normal car" or 120d, 320d or 520d, it'll feel brilliant, lovely engine noise, rocket like speed, comfy cabin, similar ride & handling...
If you're using this car on track, i wouldnt personally be wanting to use non-hubcentric spacers.
Maybe get 10mm hubcentric, or the correct offset wheels in the first place lol.
Re: aux/usb, yes, just remove the current one & replace, simples.
Getting the existing hub out is a bit of a pain, but if you youtube it, there is a way through the cup holder cooling vents to probe it out.
Exactly this basically. Its great in the summer, if your aircon works :ROFLMAO:
I...
Little bit of tinkering in the sun on Saturday ...
Having two e9*'s makes for some decent part swopping possibilities!
Ignore the change, i didnt find that unfortunately, it fell out my cup holder when i removed the armrest.

Good tyres make a MASSIVE difference on these. PS4/Supersports are deffo required. I still believe had all the initial road tests been with the RF's, the journalists would have been like "WTF is this thing, it handles like a slippery banana" rather than lauding its praises constantly.
