Had to change mine last summer. It looked like the original, so it must have lasted about 8 years. You can probably find a refurbished one for about £60 or so (that's what i paid anyway). I'm told they are just as good as new ones.
Well according to Parkers, if it was registered (produced) between 1 Feb 1999 to 5 Jan 2000 then it's a 8v. If it's 21 Jan 2000 to 18 Jun 2001 then it's a 16v.
1.4 Alize should be the same spec as a 1.4RT but with added air con, if that's any help to you.

Question though; what size tyres did you go for with the 15s? From what i've been able to find out, standard authentique size is very different to my steel 165 / 70 R13
