Looks great that. As @gez 172 says, it's in a perfect state to enjoy it without worrying about it, so I'd be inclined to leave the paint and just drive it for a while.
Post some pictures of the car if you can. Seeing it might help us to point some things out.
Are there any brackets inside the car that could be removed if you have removed other things? Is it a 172, or a 182? If it's a 172, you could fit the flat boot floor from a 182 (or just a flat piece of...
You've done most of it by the sounds of it! I can think of a few things:
- Proper bucket seats instead of the OEM 197 ones (that's probably the biggest single saving I can think of)
- You could go lexan in the rear side windows and rear screen, but keep the glass in the doors if you still want...
You've probably done more mods in a single week than a lot of people do in their whole period of ownership 😂
Monaco looks really good with the white 2118s (y)
Will be interesting to see how you get on with this. Look forward to the YT videos, as no doubt you'll go more in-depth than anyone else.
Don't think I could ever get past the looks though.
Is it one of the Michelin Cup cars? There was (is?) a series for basically standard 197s that was associated with the main Clio Cup.
Still, as @Yorkshire Pudding says, that's still a decent price really. Got some nice bits on it.
I believe there is a guy in eastern Europe somewhere doing DSG controllers now, as a few people are starting to fit the 'boxes into other cars. I saw an off-the-shelf adaptor kit to fit one into a Corsa VXR on eBay a while back.
That would be interesting to see. Is it just that the friction material isn't up to the job?
Would be cool to see a few more highly modified ones, as there aren't many on here.
Success.
The gobshite persona made Moyles famous. Same with Clarkson. Shmee is no different. The hyper-jolly, "hi guys", business is what's made his channel work, so why change it? If you listen to the interview he did with Jonny Smith, he was very clear about it. His videos are very formulaic...
I must say, I wasn't a big fan of those wheels on your car in the standard colour. They didn't seem to work somehow. They look loadsssss better now they're gold though!
Power-to-weight probably isn't a million miles off a Clio, so I wouldn't expect much difference in straight-line performance, especially once you factor in drivers and other conditions.
Put both on a wet, muddy B-road and it would probably be a different story.
His parents were reasonably wealthy, and he went to a decent school I think. He made money in IT or something I think. If you watch the interview with him on Jonny Smith's YouTube channel, it sounds like he has grafted quite a lot too though.
I don't see why being from a wealthy family, or...
Agreed. He used to piss me off quite a bit but, ultimately, he's doing what he enjoys, so good luck to him. I don't like his content, but it seems plenty of people do, so at least he is doing something to get people interested in cars.
Doesn't surprise me at all. You only have to watch the likes of Adam LZ, TJ Hunt etc on YouTube. They've created massive hype about JDM cars over there. People are going absolutely bonkers for them. Good for current owners I guess, but bad for anyone that wants to buy one.
I've heard there are...
