Few more spots when I was out walking around the neighbourhood over the weekend.
Ford Crown Victoria with BMW M stripes 😂
Modified Mustang:
M5 Comp - looks epic in red I think:
Err?
Pimped Panamera:
CL600:
Quite like these. We didn't get them in Europe. Hyundai Genesis...
Yeah they were definitely function over form. It's a pretty mixed scene here. A lot of people are into American stuff, so it's mainly Chargers and Mustangs, but there's quite a big JDM scene too. A lot are pretty rough around the edges, but I guess that's a theme with drift cars everywhere...
Went to a autocross meeting tonight, so a few more Saudi spots.
370Z drift car. Had a ride in this. Looks pretty standard, but had a welded diff, hydro handbrake etc:
2.0 turbo accord. Looked standard but had Civic Type-R turbo, aftermarket downpipe and ethanol. Owner said it was about...
Group B is so over-rated in my view. Apart from the fact that I can't get comfortable with celebrating an era where a load of people were killed through negligence, it wasn't even that competitive. Rallies were decided by gaps of minutes, and it was Audi domination, followed by Peugeot...
There are a few threads about the Group N timing, so it might be worth a search. @NorthloopCup had a batch of timing tools made some time ago.
The standard ecu can be mapped to make it work, but don't know if there's anyone in Ireland with experience of it.
Welcome to the forum. Nice to see another rally Clio.
You'll need to get it mapped with the Group N timing, but they seem to be the best things to do really.
Beyond that, it's aftermarket cams and/or throttle bodies, then serious stuff like head work, pistons, rods etc.
Best value is just...
Poor show. You can post Twingos too if you like 😂 I do love a Clio R3. Would love to have a go in one of those, especially one of the pukka 250bhp ones.
Found quite a few more on my laptop:
Should have tagged @Pauleds too
The road rally boys really love one, but a friend of mine who does a lot of targa rallies and autoSOLOs (with quite a lot of success) bought one to replace his 106, but sold it almost immediately. He said the body felt like it was made out of jelly and he really hated it. I've not tried one...
Bit of a random one, but I was going through some pictures on my One Drive (I didn't even know I had a One Drive until today) and found these pictures on there.
Most folk tend to think of racing when it comes to the Clio, thanks to the Clio Cup no doubt. I always thought that was a bit strange...
Yeah it's definitely got a bit out of control. My local club started putting in some more noise restrictions, as some of the cars were a bit ridiculous.
My old Escort has ended up being used for targa rallies. I remember going to a targa a couple of years back and there was someone using a 106...
Remember reading an article about them a while ago. Quite an interesting story behind them. Despite the old man image, that gen of Rover 200 was quite well regarded I think.
Only on a few rallies though. I don't think he's quite as sharp as he used to be, but his experience will definitely help them. Going to be interesting to see if the new cars are reliable, as that could mix things up.
