Mines very loud and its also nearly brand new - only done about 7k miles in as many months. People tend to think its my an aftermarket system but its OE spec, thought it was blowing when I first got it but it isn't anywhere so must just be how the exhaust is.
Actually mate i've found more often than not its the bonnet catch that just bends so the bonnet cannot open. Can usually bend it back into the right position with DIY skills.
Don't know if this helps mate but I find if im on the red light, and just to get out of the situation go and put £5 of petrol in, even though the petrol has moved to way above where the fuel light would usually come on, the fuel light will not reset unless I put in at least £8-10.
Maybe because it is easier to accelerate at 5-10 mph in first gear rather than second, the same reason you'd put it in second not fifth at 20 mph?
Just a guess :P
I can't see there being any magical problem with your cup where it loses all control for no reason in the wet.
It's one of or a combination of crappy tyres and not compensating enough for the road conditions.
Standard vs standard the 172 will be quite a bit faster in a straight line but do breathing mods to both and the saxo will have gained something stupid like 20 bhp and then it will seriously keep up with the 172. They are very restricted as standard.
Saw you coming past the woodmans pub, on the roundabout before you flashed the hazards :rasp: nice seeing another 172 in that colour - never seen one before.
My 172 seems to run 90% as well as normal from cold nowadays, always used to be a bit lumpy changing gears before the gearbox was reconditioned though.
Quite stupid people saying 'your car should be getting way more mpg than that.. it must be broken'
Although it can obviously achieve more than 35 mpg, it doesn't mean it's broken. Maybe he uses full throttle up to 3000 rpm, maybe he encounters a lot of traffic lights on his particular route...
Changed the battery, turns out the fob is just dead. It seems to have lost its spring action so when you click the button, it doesnt click it just pushes down.
New key time? :dapprove:
The battery in my key fob has just gone. 2 questions...
what batterys does it take? is it best just going halfords or can you get them for next to nothing somewhere else?
how do you actually get the back of the key off? just lever it off? :)
Seems to have got worse now, it actually gives a bit of resistance when i'm turning the wheel and turning doesn't feel smooth sometimes anymore.
Any ideas what this is? :dapprove:
Difference is that an ITG panel filter on a 182 will give you maybe 1-2 BHP if you are lucky, if what people are saying is true the colt has a restrictive airbox which is very easy to free up BHP from.
Recently the wheel on my 172 has started squeaking.. it sounds a bit like something is stuck between the wheel and the steering column and when you turn makes quitea bad noise. Any ideas what this could be?
Cheers
Doesn't really matter that much where max power is - it's probably faster to change after the 6500 rpm mark since then you wil be closer to max power in the next gear, and a few hundred rpm above 6500 will probably still be producing more power than what the revs drop to if you change gear.
I...
Upgrading the door speakers and then just adding an amp would make the sound quality 10x better, and the amp doesn't take up that much room so its practical still.
Apex drop by 40mm and I don't think another 10mm would really be that noticable - maybe the same as putting the spare wheel back in the boot?
I didn't think a drop of 60mm is 'dragging my ringpiece along the ground', it's hardly stupidly low? :S
Thanks to the two above helpful replies :)
Maybe I worded it wrong. I care about the handling and ride obviously too but one of reasons I would buy coilovers is to actually get a noticable improvement in ride height over standard lowering springs.
V max lower by 60mm don't they?
Which splitters will fit on a 172 well? I don't really want anything too big or something that has to be cut, just seeing if theres anything other than the £100 k-tec carbon one or if i'm gunna have to just bite the bullet.
When I first got my car the tyres were only just still legal and it felt very unstable and would be hard to keep in a straight line under hard braking from speed. Once I got new (premium) tyres and new suspension the car feels so much better.
