RAM is so cheap that there is no reason not to stick 4GB in there at the minute. I started with 2GB on Vista and everything was fine, but then saw a special offer for another 2GB and as I had two empty slots, decided to use them. Can't say that I have noticed any great change between the two TBH.
Just saw that on google. Looks like he is stuck to trial and error/ using the histogram (if the D40 has one of those?).

I assume that he is using the manual settings on the camera too and not trying to use auto?
A friend of mine uses manual lenses from the stone age on his D300 and has no problems getting correct exposures so it can be done.
Why doesn't the metering on the camera work? Normally it should...
Notepad ++ also does a nice job with the coloured text. Makes it easier to read the code than normal notepad I find.
This place always has people who can help you out if you get stuck so just experiment and when you get stuck, give people here a shout.
If Dreamweaver is too hard, just use MS word and save as HTML.
It gives nasty coding and you are limited as to what you can do, but to create a simple webpage, it is just like making a word doc.

It should be part and parcel of the licence agreement generally. They are trying to get everyone over to Websense anyway so they should be overly helpful.
