VMWare is awesome. I just cloned my old (physical) dev box to a virtual machine on my new PC, works perfect! Think I might consolodate my old exchange boxes onto one new server using the same method. Had a look at virtual PC, it was ok but was a lot more fiddly to use than vmware.
I would ditch the 256 and use the matching pair in the right slots for dual channel. If you have mismatched sticks the chances of it working are slim. What processor you running?
Aye, it will work. I haven't seen a router with a built in cable modem, and it wouldn't work anyway. Only NTL supplied modems will work on the network (unless you know a few tricks, but that's another story ;) ). Just remember to power the modem off and on once you connect it, or it won't work!
For the car I would get something like this if you don't want to spend too much £££

Spend a tenner in B&Q and you can make a mount for it! Not sure how it would work on a bike...
It's been running about a year and a half now. They're rated for about 3000 hours if I remember rightly and cost £260 to replace, so 8.6p an hour. I can live with that!
Here's mine ;)
77" 16:9 projection screen
Sanyo Z3 projector (1280x720)
Mission speakers + paradigm PS1000 sub connected to Yamaha 630SE amp
Home cinema PC with 1.5 terabytes of high definition movies (DVI-HDMI link to projector)
A bit untidy I've been very busy as of late....
The PC...
£6,500 spent on it, is he f**king MAD!?! Think of the car you could be driving with that kind of cash! And there seems to be lots of interest in it @ £2,700 reserve!! I wonder about the people in this country sometimes....:S :S
Nice 1, but I thought he had a yellow vee or is this one brought along for the occasion? Never been in one, would love a go.
I got about 90 mins of in car footage but due to a serious lack of time we won't be seeing it until late next month at the earliest :dapprove:
I would recommend the "portable" version of nero 7. Not an official product but you might be able to find it ;) It's just the main burning app in a 12mb exe. You just run the exe without having to install 900mb of shite onto your computer.
Video CDs have less error correcting information than...
Fantastic! Used to drive a proton which was a rebadged 1980s mitsubishi, looked exactly like that and was a 1.5 12v as well. Bullet proof car, was round spain and to france with a caravan and did 90,000 before we sold it never missed a beat. Most reliable car I've driven!
I got a session in a 197 as well, I had kind of criticised it in another post for not having enough poke. But on track it was awesome. It seemed to grip and grip even in the wet and the brakes were great. So it might not be good for traffic light grand prix, but I think it will go round a track...
My picks would be prime 95 for stability testing, memtest86+, CPU-Z so you can see various clock speeds/voltages. Also some sort of temperature prog so you can see what the CPU is doing. Sometimes you get this with the motherboard. Failing that, some beers and a good session of counter strike to...
^^ aye got an opty 148 @ 2.8ghz now. Not even fiddled with it properly yet, I reckon 3ghz is on the cards when I get some time! I also hear the cheaper dual core P4s are worth a look.
If you do a little research and be sensible then it can save you a ton of cash and it's a good laugh. The first chip I did was my celeron 300A which I ran at 450Mhz with the change of a couple of settings. It cost me £50 and was performing better than the fastest pentium at the time. That...
