The speed is how long the shutter stays open and thus how much light it lets in.
Ignoring aperture which will change things..
1200sec is very fast. So the shutter is opening and closing very quickly so only a small amount of light gets in. On the opposite scale, if it's open for a few seconds...
If mine last 25k, they'll probably last me 5 years! LOL
They are cheap in a sense but it's all the little things that soon add up. Paying labour because I'm a n00b with a spanner doesn't help my costs.

Then ask them about the damage they've caused and incorrectly diagnosing the fault. That's not even a days work though really, so logical that someone spent most of the day looking at it..
