I've just bought a Clio 182 but yet to pick it up and have looked through the various posts on auxillary/accessory belt failures which is a bit worrying!! The car is a 55-reg with 34k on clock. The [Renault] dealer is servicing the car before I collect (just said oil and filter) but have asked...
Hi, could someone help me with the specs of the 197 please? I'm possibly looking at one but I'm unsure of what I should be looking for. What options are standard on it? Are there Cup versions that are less high spec?
I looked at one earlier (56 reg) and it had cloth interior (nice sports...
I think they were all quick that's why it was so good to watch such close racing. They usually always dominated in the wet races though due to 4WD (and UK climate!).
The two big concerning factors as overall weight (both tyre and wheel) and overal diameter (or rolling radius). If the 17" wheel and tyre weighs the same and is the exact same rolling radius then there should be any noticable difference in performance (ignoring stiffer sidewall from lower...
A 17" alloy wheel at 6.2kg is extremely lightweight for that size. If they are really lighter and you can fit tyres that are the same rolling radius then they would be beneficial but unless they're made of magnesium they tend to be heavier than smaller sizes.
I think GSD3 production is now in Thailand, the new Assymmetric F1 is in Germany, I think this was a big problem a few years ago since the Thai ones weren't EU spec but now they are.
Hi, that sounds perfect, whereabouts in Sheffield are you? I assume it will be the right spring for the car (did the different base models share springs or as some different?).
I've just had an MOT done on my car (52-reg) and one of the rear coils has snapped near the bottom. It hasn't affected the ride height but was obviously an MOT failure due to this. Is this a common problem?
If anyone (pref. North West/Manchester area) has standard springs lying about because...
Hunter, do you (or anybody in the northwest) still have your old standard springs that you want to get rid of? I need some standard 1.2 16v rear springs as one of mine has snapped.
I've got a 1.2 Clio 16v which runs fine with no error lights etc and it starts and runs from cold perfectly but it has developed a problem whereby it struggles to start when hot, usually if it's switched off and restarted within the hour. It can take quite a number of turns of the starter to...
Actually that was my other question!!! hehe How do you spot the difference under the bonnet? as the 100 as a different gearbox and turbo, does anyone know it is easy to identify?
Thanks for the replies.
I test drove an alleged DCi 100 yesterday advertised on Autotrader as a DCI 100 Dynamique, it looked nice but it didn't feel paticularly quick and felt exactly the same as the DCi 80 I test drove on the Saturday. Turns out it was an 80 then!!! as it had just a blue...
I've got a 52 plate 1.2 16v Extreme and it was last serviced at Renault in October/November 2005 and I assume it has a service indicator on the dash to let you know when it's due another but it's not displayed yet after 2 years - is that normal?
Also, when it comes on to say it requires...
I have a 52-reg Clio Extreme and the driver's door has stopped locking and unlocking on the remote (the passenger side and boot still lock and unlock fine), so I have to use the key to manually lock and unlock the door.
Will this just be the lock motor/solenoid in the door or are there...
I suppose that theory makes sense but as you say the route cause of the judder is the pad/disc contact and the boiled fluid shows up any judder even more as there is more pedal travel vs pressure.
I run DS3000s on my 205 and the dust/deposits are harsh on the wheels too but I just accept it...
Boiled fluid results in a spongey pedal thay may or may not come back to normal after being left to cool down. If it doesn't then you need to change the fluid. It can't be the cause judder as its merely pushing the pads on to the disc.
Judder is caused by overheated pads breaking down or in...
Under 9mins should be very easy with that amount of power (350bhp), I got well under 9mins with a lot less than half that power and could have used a lot more as there's so many flat out parts.
I'm thinking of going to Oulton Park on Feb 19th with Easytrack. EVOGone you should get the 911 in the new year and invite j3ned to a duel hehe.
IMO the Clio should beat "most" EVOs round "most" tracks in dry conditions.
A 350bhp Clio should be pretty fast round the 'Ring as there are places where big power is needed especially the couple of uphill sections where its flat out for ages which is where my 205 struggled as it was so steep.
I meant real world as in NOT 1/4 mile times. But since you said "I don't race on the public roads as its bloody stupid" it can't have been on a country road or dual carriage way either ;)
Anyway, who's arguing, it's just a discussion!
Bruntingthorpe consists of merely 2 very long straights and a few corners, ie; its a power circuit so you just need lots of it to be fast round there. A twistier circuit might be a different matter I'd say (ie Burntingthorpe is not the best example to compare).
The Ring taxi looks like it pulls away in some spots once it got going on the faster sections, it should do as its a faster car but apparently its not normally run in the 500bhp mode to save the engine.
