Sabine (if it was her - there are quite a few RingTaxi M5 drivers) looked a bit ragged on that lap! seemed to take a few risks over taking the bikes too.
If you mean 195/45/16 then that will be similar but a bit bigger overall than a 195/50/15.
195/50/15 = 576mm rolling diameter
195/45/16 = 581.9mm RD
A 205/45/16 would be even big still but not by a massive amount since the width affects the relative profile as the "45" refers to a...
You were also with me you clown!!! it was me who asked you if you wanted come out with us in it lol. NEway, I reckon its quite easy to drive quickly, even on a very short first drive in a 172 for me over the snake pass we had some big bikes holding us up. The ride is firmer than I expected...
So why wasnt that guy in the WR1 quicker than you at Bedford? ;) Im not doubting your driving skills but I think he was a less than great driver with shocking lines/braking. It was only mid way down straights he pulled away because he struggled with the corners but theoretically it should be a...
Not the best performance road tyre available but I have used Kumho Escta 711 on track and they were good for budget tyres, better than many performance tyres because they wore well, had good grip and didnt overheat in the dry like many can. Not good in the wet though. I dont think this tyre is...
Now have one final "all footage in 7minutes" video at the bottom of the page. Its 68mb.

Sorry, should have put a warning on them that its broadband only really unless you can leave it on overnight without it disconnecting. Id normally put some filesizes on the image links to give you an idea of the filesize but left them off this time.
Thanks for the comments :) I replied to your PM dannyt.
Ive fixed those links now for that row of 3 videos but StevieP was on the right track by guessing the filenames! :D
Big Iain; its a 205 Mi16; the red one in these pictures...
Ive managed to upload most of my track footage now here: <A target=_blank href= "http://www.98ron.com/trackdays/oultonfeb05/oulton.htmhttp://www.98ron.com/trackdays/oultonfeb05/oulton.htm
Should have plenty of you on there somewhere if you went on track.
Black standard Clio, Clio Cup, 172...
That was mainly the engine though, not the car and certainly there is nothing in a Renault road car that can be identified as being derived from modern F1. To compare with motorsport with road cars, something like Touring Cars is probably more accurate, which is where your theory falls flat on...
Youll have no problems changing the pads to whatever make you want. Pads from Renault will be quite expensive, so may as well take the opportunity to get some uprated pads in there.
Brake pads are a consumable on the car so they cant really take an issue with it in the same way they arent...
Passing you where?
I know that the Z3 isnt a sports car and its handling is very flawed, its wheelbase is too short, it pitches and dives too much and isnt very well balanced. I knew all this before I bought it, and I didnt buy it to use as that, its comfortable enough, is fine up until 8/10s...
The problem with a Clio V6 is that you will get hassled by hot hatches, and on a b-road in a Mk1 you will get left behind :p. It also has the potential to be seen, by people less knowledgeable, as a Clio with a bodykit (though I personally think they look good), where the VX will never get that...
Care to elaborate on that in the same breath as a Clio V6!? And if a VX Turbo isnt that great a track car out of the box, what is?
For practicality the Clio V6 would have it but even that sounds ironic considering they are impractical!! :D Mainly for luxury and comfort compared to...
Youre probably in a minority that thinks they dont look good despite their 20 years age; no car has aged less IMO.
The 16v is arguable less pleasing aesthetically mainly because of the flared arches with wheels set so far in the arches it just looks wrong. They need 3" spaces to fill them out...
Lol, yea, thats hardly the best representation of a Miami 205, with 2-tone paintwork and an awkward ride height.
Ive owned a 205Mi16 for 5 years and in a straightline it usually has the edge on a 172, though I cant get better than 14.9 second quarter mile time in mine where some of the Cups...
Renault will recommend 97/8RON as they market the car as having 172/182bhp and the performance that goes with it, so to make sure it performs properly then that is the fuel you should use.
The engine will have a knock sensor so will run fine on 95ron with the timing held back a bit, it just...
How can a FWD 225bhp car put the power down earlier on a track than a RWD one? I think this would be true to say of your average driver as FWD is generally safer (easier) than RWD. And thats before reading most reviews saying that it either spins its power away or "driving aids" cut...
If you can be sure that in winter the lowest temperature is 16c then run the car on pure water with a corrosion inhibiter such as Water Wetter, this will help with heat dissipation as pure water is much better than the standard 40/60 sometimes 50/50 antifreeze mix most cars have.
Hi Joe, were you the driver of the blue 16v there in August? If so, I was in the red 205 with the camera in. Im pretty sure I got some footage of you but I cant remember if its in any of those I put online here: http://www.carvids.co.ukhttp://www.carvids.co.uk
As with the generl consensus, Id go with F1s as a great all-rounder particularly in this climate. The Michelins are probably better ultimately in the dry though.
I would steer clear of AVS Sports, they are "ok" in the dry but comically bad in the wet, almost like driving on ice when its cold...
Donington is a great circuit, and is an easy circuit to learn which Craner Curves being a great feature and the corner where you will probably need to practice the most. Its quite a fast circuit.
Oulton Park is very techincal but also a fast circuit, but only because it has a mixture of...
There is a feature on buying a Clio 16v in this months Practical Performance Car Magazine for anyone interested.
It has a blue MK1 Escort on the front cover.
Go to http://www.brakesinternational.co.ukwww.brakesinternational.co.uk and order online; the prices are very good and next day delivery is quite cheap too. The discs are imported from Germany, the make is "BREMTECH" and appear to be very good quality. On a 205 I used to warp big brakes every...
I would think so yes, the rolling diameter is slightly less and there is 5mm extra width either side but considiering people put 17s+ on them they should be fine.
The fact its the "old" shape wont really affect the used value of it as its hardly a regular Golf and there isnt a replacement out for it at the moment.
Its worth buying if you can buy it for "182" money (£12k?), as it wont depriciate like the Clio and the cheapest are still over £18k.
