I presume the previous owner has done some swapping and changing with the cd player. Maybe they fitted an aftermarket one, sold the original one but then when selling the car, took out the aftermarket one and picked up a cheap tape player ?

I *think* this is the laymans way to tell. ph1 and ph2 both have a square dashboard, ph3 has a rounder one. ph2 got a brake light on the boot lid, the ph1 hasn't got one. Should be enough information to find which one yours is with the powers of deduction :)

Get it on the deck of HMS illustrious and get it hooked up to one of the winches! Seriously though, my understanding is it's basically get your foot down as quick as possible without any wheelspin. Wheelspin is definitely no good as if your wheels are spinning, you're going nowhere!

Yes the authentique is what top gear would refer to as the base model. :) I dunno about the new clio, but I think the authentique on the last model still only had a tape player as standard.

I think there's a 1 month/1000mile tolerance on your servicing, otherwise when it comes to claiming from the warranty, Renault can say you car hasn't been serviced properly.
