Just booked my mk1 172 for its 24k. I am the second owner.
Whne booking in i asked are there any details on record for warranty work, the only note was bumper band anyone know what this could be? - thats all she said it had on record - no more detail?
Cheers
Makes no difference mate, early ones, well providing the spec is the same, there is no difference, warranty is out anyway!! my last mk2 172 was import and had no probs shifting it, problem is everyone seems to beleive the pr hype trying to put people off saving money.
Even a car that should be...
My 172 is a little sharper using shell or bp but tbh not worth the extra wonga.
I use it though as the car was tuned to run using a 98ron fuel. If just for more performance, not that much in it!
My Mk1 is a cassete job, with 6 disc under the seat. My last car a mk 2 had a front loading cd as well, personally i find this better as i dont use cassetes and sometimes its far easier just to slip in a cd rather than f*ck about removing the magazine etc!
thanks mate, sorry to sound like a thicky biscuit but will it say...compatible with clio controls or is there a standard remote protocol that they all use for exterio control units?
Is there a name for the specific feature it should have?
Thanks again!
probably been asked already but here goes,
when repacing a mk1 172 head unit, are there any special features that a potential replacement must have in order to work with the column control?
or are there only a select few
many thanks in anticipation

Thats terrible news!
May not be a 172 thing though, I mean car fires can happen in any car. Its just that we hear about these cos we are interested in renos
If you are reading Lady, hope you are all ok.
lets not get carried away here, a williams would win any day of the week! Have raced both in my 172 - the williams put up more of a struggle, I know before you say - they might/might not have had mods but IMHO the williams is faster - faster than the quoted 0-60 suggests
But hey, I wasted em...

Just seen this on ebay, a MK1 172 with only 8K
Seems a good price for such a low milage
Monaco blue, the old willy blue - its a pearl and looks absolutley stunning in the sun - so thats about 2 weeks a year!
My last one was this colour and it looks f*cking mint as f*ck
From what I remember the exclusive had grey leather seats - light grey. IMHO they looked awful, very cheap looking, especially as most of the dash is the same color - I think the suede and nappa are far better - but like i said - just my opinion - no intention to dis anyone with an exclusive...
Mine had the same - sorted,
Firstly just try and differentiate between frnot and back, ie when driving lift the hannbrake slightly, if it goes its the back uns!!
Mine was the back ones, took em off and they actually wear unevenly, and they move around in the caliper hence the change in pitch...
This is not true. There is nothing to suggest any benefit from this type of run in Sure it will lossen quiker and maybe feel quicker but that experience is only from accelerated wear - it wont make it a better engine!
IMHO it is always preferable to introduce power and components graually...
