Changed the track rod ends for genuine renault ones today, seems to have sorted the wobble and the noise. The TRE on the passenger side did have a fair bit of play in it. Had to cut the drivers side off in the end!
Correct part numbers are 7701474492 and 7701474493 if anyone is looking
So to test the inner, if I jack up both sides, drop the TRE out of the hub, get someone to hold the wheel and push/pull the track rod in and out and feel for movement?
No droning noise to speak of and the wobble is always at 9 -3, no movement at 12 - 6 so would that eliminate wheel bearing?
I do have spacers on which I know are not good for bearings.
What makes you say inner? I couldn't check the inner as like I said I the TRE didnt want to separate from the hub and I didn’t want to force it with no guarantee of getting it back on with that thread. If the inner is fooked I guess it will feel very loose when I remove the outer TRE from the...
Hi guys,
Had a bit of a knock when at low speed going over big bumps so decided to take a look today. Both front wheels off the ground I've got some play in the passenger side wheel in the 9-3 position.
I checked all of the relevant bolts and bushings around that area and all seems tight. I...
Okay great, min SERV and ESP seem to come on whenever they feel like. I'll take a look at getting another sensor on the cheap. I've actually replaced the entire squib inc steering angle sensor about a year ago and I managed to reset it manually using the orange/blue indicator thingy.
Does...
Hooked it up to an icarsoft i907 today. There were a lot of fault codes stored for various things, I assumed they are all just old codes that hadn't been cleared (Airbag, missfires etc) so I cleared everything and went for a drive. I ran the diagnostic again and the only code that came back was...
So the light went off for about a week. Today I was chasing a rattle in the passenger footwell and noticed the lights had come back on.
I noticed that if I jiggled the cables going into the squib and flicked the ignition on, the lights would go off. But when I replaced the cover that goes...
Hi Guys,
I've done a search on this but most results have an ABS light as well. I did have an ABS light too but replaced the brake pedal sensor and this has now gone.
So I seemingly randomly get just the SERV and ESP lights on, sometimes the light stays on when turning the car off and on and...
Yeah I checked the manual online. The unit requires an add on phillips DAB receiver between the unit and the aerial. Ive cancelled the purchase and gone for a more standard one!
Thanks anyway
Hi guys,
I bought a cheap DAB radio from
Ebay second hand and it has a strange antenna connection. Can anyone identify and let me know whatadapter I need?
Thanks!
Just wanted to revive and old thread to say I had the same noise and it was also the fuel rail guard despite it feeling solid, one of the studs had sheared
Hi Guys,
Looking to get some Pilot sport 3's in 195/45/16 (I've got good 195's on the back and bald 205's on the front so just going to match the rear ones, I know its not 100% spec for 182). On camskill they have two PS3's in this size. The only difference I can see is the fuel efficiency...
No turbo but I do have a an induction kit and a Stig air freshener, essentially the same HP gain. ?
So returned it to the garage, the mechanic struggled to replicate the noise so I took him out for a drive. He agreed it didn't sound right and I asked to swap the old dogbone back on for me...
No forwards, I cant replicate it in reverse im too scared to lose control! Medium throttle going up hill and releasing the clutch quickly but not fast enough to just spin the wheels. Will do it on flat and down hill too, I guess uphill just puts everything under the most stress.
The box is...
Yeah it seems to be fine. To make it judder like that you need to really give it a bit of welly and release the clutch quickly.
Will do, hopefully nothing serious! Will ask them to put other dogbone back on and hope for best.
Tom
Will check the wheel bolts.
Best way I can describe it is a low creaky, rumbling, grinding sound when engaging the clutch. Its also present in first and second and low revs when I boot it, sounds like a blown wheel bearing a little bit. Its hard to hear because I have an induction kit on and it...
Hi Guys,
Got the car back from the garage today they have serviced it, new brake fluid, braded brake lines and fitted a new dogbone mount. They also replaced the bolt on the wishbone to ball joint and checked all the other bolts you mentioned earlier.
On my drive back home I noticed a horrific...
Not sure if im an idiot and thats god level sarcasm or if im just an idiot...
The offending bolt is holding the ball joint assembly to the wishbone, looks like a bog standard bolt:
Haha well thats quite a spectacular misunderstanding. Is the strut to hub bolt direction likely to do any damage?
I guess I can swap them back easy enough when I check the wishbone bolts haha!
I don't have the old wishbones, they were changed a good 6 months ago now. Its going into the garage...
BOTH strut to hub bolts were facing the wrong way, I have since turned them around so the nut is front facing and the bolt head is rear facing.
I checked the caliper to hub bolts on both sides, which were tight. I checked the track rod ends which were both tight also.
I tightened the...
Thats a great shout, I will check this out tomorrow. So in the above image left to the rear, right to the front? Is this the same on both sides or mirrored?
I will see if I can buy another jack and inspect the other bolts you mentioned.
Thanks
Ball joints came attached to the wishbones, I checked the pinch bolt and the bolts holding them to the wishbone and they all seem okay. No visible play in them when wiggling with a big screw driver either.
Didn't check the strut to hub bolts but caliper carrier bolts are tight, I didn't check...
Ive just been out to try this. Using the foot brake and just the clutch I cant replicate the noise. I tried using the handbrake and a bit of gas and I can’t replicate it either, or at least I cant hear anything over the handbrake creaking!
Also tried stalling the engine but that did nothing either
Checked all wheel bolts and torqued to 110nm. Dont have a jack with me atm but going to drop car at garage next week and will ask them to check if spacers sitting flat or to remove completely when investigating Theyve been on for a long time with no issues previously however.
