As others have said, you sound pretty clued up and the fact you are thinking about it is good! If you were still worried, why not consider a normal 172? You can pick up an import for a touch over the price of a Cup from a UK dealer, and you get all the safety features and creature comforts...

Seriously? My mate as a 220 turbo coupe and there is no way my 172 would get anywhere near him in a straight line - at least so I thought?? Around corners is a different matter as their handling is dubious to say the least, but I am shocked that my car could apparently keep anywhere near him -...

Do you all see a lot of 172s around where you live or work? Either Im half blind when I drive around or there really is just a shortage in this area. I havent seen a single other since I got mine, and I think I recall seeing 1 mk1 before I got mine. Never even seen a cup in the "flesh" either...
