^ I agree totally.
The trick is to hardly push the go-go pedal at all. Just enough so the car accelerates really slowly.
I had my 172 reading 48mpg yesterday doing this for about 20 miles after filling up - it didn't last long though, as soon as I put my foot down it dropped back to normal :)
Yup, same here over speed bumps. Think it's the drivers side but can't see anything obviously wrong and it's recently been serviced and they didn't spot anything.
I believe some ISPs (most) can do what they call "traffic shaping" and I think they can block torrents. I don't know how it works, but mine slows them down at peak tmes if you've over your monthly usage figure.
Maybe something to do with the ports that you are connecting on... try searching...
That 0-100-0 stat is pretty scary! It takes you 16.74 secs to get to 100, but only 4.68 secs to stop!!! That would be a real brown pants moment if you needed to do it :dead: and I'm sure it would be the longest 5 seconds of your life!
I also find it quite strange that 0-60 takes only 6.49...
Just look down the left (drivers side) of your engine. The belt you see is the aux bely, should look new. Mine does!
I had the same problem with "does the service include the aux belt?" "no" but they said an extra £70 I think.
Yup. Mine does. has done for a while. I thought it was the front at first, but I think I've decided it is the rear.
Like you say, seems to do it when it is cold and stops after a while. I remember I first noticed it when winter started.
I think I'd be tempted to ask for more. What can they say? No?
You've been put out by £750 + extra insurance by the sound of it so suggest that they pay that..
Or maybe ask for an MOT to be included in the repairs (will only cost them £35 or whatever it is) and for them to extend your...
The little bar in I.E. comes as part of XP Service pack 2. Maybe "resetting" your laptop caused you to go back to a time before SP2 was installed.
Otherwise, use a proper browser like firefox ;)
While attemptng to squash my own car I invented the Clio Limo-Sport  Just needs the rear windows tinting, but I can't work out how to do that without it looking pants.
That would stop those V6 owners complaining about their turning circles :clown:
Think I once read most of the pages skipping over the obvious bits just to see if it had any features I didn't know about. Not that interesting really.
My Mk2 172 gives me about 30-34mpg round town and on long steady runs (a-roads, motorway) it can be 40+. Depends on how often you put your foot down ;)
I had the AUX belt replaced when I had mine serviced and the noise is still there. I was hoping it would just cure it but no such luck. I'd hope they would have noticed if there was something obviously wrong with the bearings on the alternator or other bits around there when they did the belt...
I mentioned a similar thing at my 36k service. When it's warm and you've been sat idling for a minute or so it starts ticking. Rev the engine a few times and it will go away. Leave it idling and it comes back. Sounds much worse from inside the car, you can hardly hear it with your head in...
arghh! my eyes! I've been staring at the squashed one for too long. The car in the "real" picture has started to look stupidly long :S
Neat bit of photoshopping though.
Just had my 172's 36k service done today. Standard service price I was quoted didn't include AUX belt at any of the 3 garages I called.
AUX belt was £76.10 extra (Renault in Swindon)
36k Service was £250.
Plus I needed some power steering sensor changing (£70) and a new rear exhaust bracket...
The £511 is the price from the non-dealer  I'm a bit surprised as they were always cheaper when I took my previous clio there.
I might have a look for somewhere else non-dealer who are closer, but I think all the ones I've seen mentioned on here (ren-tech, gdi, etc) are a bit too far...
Just been phoning round for prices to have:
36k Service (incl Aux belt)
New rear brake pads
for my 172.
Renault in Bath want £413
Renault in Swindon want £460
And a Renault specialist in Swindon (non-dealer) want £511
I'm quite suprised really, that it is one of the dealers that is...
Could be the switch - it went on mine a few years ago. It's in the gearbox so I ended up getting the garage to change it, but I don't think it's actually that difficult to do yourself. Wasn't that expensive to have it done I don't think. £19 rings a bell. But that seems a bit cheap..
I hit the limiter for what I think was the first time in my 9months of 172 ownership the other day! Was quite a shock as I wasn't expecting it. Turns out the engine obviously wasn't up to temp when I thought it was. Oops. :o
And yeah, a 6th gear for crusing on the motorway would be nice.
