When I had my UCH replaced (for the same window related fault) they had to have both keys to be "reprogrammed" so I'm guessing you need Renault to do it unless someone knows how to reprogram keys...
I have a similar problem with squeking suspension as described.
I've noticed the black rubber ring as well, and it does sit above the chassis leaving a gap. This was also the same on my 1.2 as well, so I guess it is normal... :S
Let us know how you get on at Renault...
Personally I would go for the slightly newer one.
However you might like to ask for something like the 36k service thrown in (when it gets to 36k of course!) or some kind of discount voucher for the service as I believe they are quite expensive.
Other than that, look at things like tyre wear...
Sounds like a similar problem to mine. They replaced the UCH on that and it fixed the window.
I noticed also that removing the fuse for the electric window only stopped the passenger side window working :? the drivers side one still worked even without the fuse in!
The beeps mean something. (obviously!) try searching the net for something like "bios beeps".
Other than that, take out all the cards, RAM, CPU, etc and put them back in and try again. Could be that something isn't quite plugged in right.
I'd agree with the title. They always seem to have something wrong with it or it needs something doing like new tyres, or brakes, or there is a funny noise coming from somewhere, or you've got the strangest feeling it is going to brake down just when you need it most.....
But then I go for a...
Your image (which doesn't show for me btw) links to some location on your C: drive.... It should be a relative link - i.e. just a link to hompage.html, not c:\documents and settings\blahblah\homepage.html.
You need to create a directory to mount it on mkdir /windows then mount.. Im guessing you only have one partition on this drive if it countains only Windows, so probably mount /dev/hda1 /windows should do the trick.
I'm guessing ubuntu will already be setup with the necessary filesystem...
For (2), try running dmesg | grep -i hd and look for output along the lines of
hda: SAMSUNG SP1614N, ATA DISK drive
hdb: SAMSUNG SP1614N, ATA DISK drive
and
hda: hda1 hda2 hda3 hda4 < hda5 hda6 hda7 hda8 hda9 hda10 hda11 >
hdb: hdb1 hdb2 hdb3
Depending on where you 2nd hard disk is plugged...
about 50ish, but I've spent muchos time on the motorway recently (about 800miles) - it's usually about 25 :(
Was about 69 after driving most of the way up the M6 over xmas - roads were very clear that day and it had just been reset. :)
I'll wait and see what the garage say to her when she takes the registration doc down I guess and take it from there.
Some helpful info there though, thanks Dave.
Yeah, I thought it should have been mentioned by the "supermarket" when I bought it. They are reasonably large "chain" I think - Carnation in Bradford, if anyones heard of them.
If it turns out that it is stolen and my Mum looses the car for whatever reason do you think I'd have any kind of...
Yeah, I thought it sounded pretty dodgy really. I don't live near enough to go and check, but I don't really know what I'd be looking at if I could.
My first thought when she told me was that it might be two cars stuck together. I don't know where the two different numbers have been found.
I'll take it back. That looks ok on the black one. I think I've seen a black splitter on a blue car (or something like that) before and I didn't think it looked right as it was a different colour.
My Mum took her car in for an MOT before xmas and was told that it has two chassis numbers under the bonnet which differ by one digit ! The garage suggested that this might mean it is stolen or have a dodgy history and offered to look into it.
They now want her to take in her registration...
Fair enough. Thats what I thought, but I just wondered if they did something other than look pretty as so many people on here seem to want them. Personally I think they look pretty gash.
(runs for cover...):rasp:
If you are dual booting Windoze and Linux, you are better off installing either Grub or Lilo (both from Linux) as your "boot loader" as they both understand how to boot linux and Windows, whereas Windows only understands Windows. I've never seen anyone with the Windows boot loader booting Linux.
