I actually have Reload, as I have CQuartz but I had issues with hazing etc during the application so had to machine polish it off, I'll look into potentially re-applying it, or just using Reload, I have 2 bottles of it :)

I'd keep them the same (PS3's), and buy some 15" wheels to put NS-2R's on. They'll also be much much cheaper in 15" form, so won't cost you that much to buy the wheels and tyres...

Never heard of it locking the ECU, probably someone pressed something they shouldn't have.

Scrap off the Ubuntu, run windows. Job done. Ubuntu isn't needed for what you run, though tbh all you really need is a NAS on the network.
I wouldn't normally suggest that, but if you don't have the linux knowledge to debug it, this is far far easier.

Easiest way is to just buy an RSTuner 2nd hand and go from there, iirc you can view what's been flashed on it, before you need to unlock it. So just buy one second hand, plug it in - if it's all good then buy the unlock/map. If it already has, just sell it on for the same money you paid, may...
