- The steering on the 197 is fine, however the 6 speed box is horrible. If you go down the 197 route make sure the gearbox feels okay.
- Handling depends on taste... The 182 is more lively while the 197 is more sure footed. Both very good, and the 197 has awesome Brembos too.
- Torque is down on...
I've never tired of taking pictures, but I have given up trying to take great pictures... If that makes any sense?
I've sold the DSLR and use a bridge camera now, and I'm happy enough snapping away to the best of my abilities.
+1
A friend of mine does bike and car trackdays and he's quicker in his car, and it's only an Accord Type-R.
I was also surprised at how many bikes I passed on the 'Ring, especially as I didn't know the circuit.
The Leon wasn't a terrible car by any means, it just didn't live up to my expectations in any aspect.
Despite the 182 and 197 sharing similar DNA they're very different to drive. I preferred the sure-footed handling and excellent braking of the 197, though I admit the 182 was more 'fun' as it...
I went from a 172 to a Leon Cupra R 225 and hated it within weeks... The Leon was soulless, it didn't handle and was worse on fuel. I sold it and bought a 182, then a 197. If it wasn't for RUK's poor customer service I'd probably still have a Renault today.
Those people are fools, especially the ones who think that German cars are the kings of reliability. People are so status conscious it's scary, and the fact that most teenagers these days aspire to owning a 5-Series diesel is a little saddening IMO.
That's not a dig at you btw! :)
For the most part I like all the varied opinions on CS, there's a lot of BS but it can make for entertaining reading.
The only thing I don't agree with is people moving on from their Clio's and going on and on about how terrible they were... Wrong place for that IMO.
Very tempted, but if I do choose to compete I'd be up against 172/182's and I wouldn't stand much of a chance. Feel free to pm me a price though matey :)
It's no Maybach, but my 72yr old dad thinks it's plenty comfy enough lol.
I'm tempted to compete next year at my local sprint track, and the Ignis would be ideal apart from the fact that it would fall into the wrong class for its engine size... So I might end up with another Clio after all!
My Eunos isn't bumpy or rattly... It's got the Miata-spec 'Fat Cat' suspension set-up and has only done 74k miles from new. It's a pleasure to drive :)
I'm not on about you btw Chip!
In answer to your question I drive as slowly as possible to preserve my tyres and brakes. Tyre squeal hurts my ears you see...
Lol, give it a few more posts and we'll be comparing the new ST to the Megane 265!
It's intriguing how many people contribute to a thread like this considering none of us exceed the speed limit or race anyone...
Small update...
I've been far too busy enjoying the Ignis lately to do anything to it, even though I'm always looking on AutoTrader for something to change it for. I did buy some decals but they're a bit bigger than I wanted, so I might remove them. These are also my first HDR photos and I...
